Yurgon Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Holy Cow, the way he works the side stick would have sufficed for at least two F-16 displays at RIAT or MAKS or so. :joystick: I know airliners aren't quite as responsive as fighter jets, but WTF? There seems to be no link at all between the aircraft flying strait and the wild stick jerking the pilot performs.
hassata Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Very nice. Is hand-flying that much the norm? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Hand flying is done with little "blips". What you see here is typical (though he probably is overdoing it a little :). This in an A320 the A330 is the worst of bunch with Rubber band type feel to the controls with the A380 the best ...or the "tightest" of the bunch. Edited January 21, 2012 by IvanK
Phantom88 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 WOW! Fantastic,What a great view angle with terrain/pilot/cockpit..incredible! Patrick

Still looks mighty weird to me.

Similarly: If you don't compensate continuously you don't fly straight / the way you want. What you see here is typical (though he probably is overdoing it a little :). Really?! Just for the video? :D F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close

Similarly: If you don't compensate continuously you don't fly straight / the way you want. Yeah, Black Shark proves that every time I fly it (even without any wind :) ). The thing I was so curious about is just the amplitude of stick movements and the lack of visible reaction by the plane except for a few times when the stick is pushed to one side for a couple seconds and the aircraft does in fact bank in a clearly visible way. It looks almost as if the input spikes are simply filtered by the flight control system, averaging the input to something like a general indicated attitude. Seriously, pushing the stick full left or full right the way it is shown in this video would have rolled an F-16 halfway around. I'd have thought that even an A320 would show some kind of reaction to that.
Chazz_BMF Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Very cool video love the soundtrack. Yurgon Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Thanks for the info, Bucic. Would rep you (again) if I could, but forum won't let me. 1
