leafer Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Or parking area for that matter. I know you can pick parking slot, but I want to start where ever I feel like it. On the grass etc. Why must it automatically default to a runway. We should be able to do this simple thing, right? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
monotwix Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 That is why you need to be under control. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
monotwix Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 What I’m saying is: why should any one take time to prepare for flight and then get rammed on a taxiway? Or runway for that matter. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
leafer Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 In multiplayer you should only spawn at assigned parking area, but for single play why not? Some variety would be nice. I'm very sure I'm the least anal around here, but I hate having to do a 180 to go to my first waypoint after taking off. This always happens when I create a mission in which I have no idea which end of runway I'll end up on. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
chokko Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 isnt it governed by the wind direction you set? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
leafer Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 I have no idea, but that might be it. Still like to pick myself though. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Grimes Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 It is governed by wind and limitations of the taxiway or terrain near the airbase. bluepilot76 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) It is quite unusual to take off down wind (also for a plane to miraculously appear at the start of the runway). The aircraft would first have had to get departure instructions and taxi clearance before leaving the ramp. So I imagine if you are starting from the runway, you are assuming that the AI pilot started up, asked for departure instructions and was told to taxi to the relevant runway. Just after lining up, you take over. I think you just have to live with it, or suffer the long taxi to the other end and take off against the traffic. Turning 180 degs at the start of a combat mission is not unreasonable surely? If you cant be bothered to turn around at the start of the mission, what you going to do when people start firing at you! lol. bluepilot76 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Alternatively, Leafer, since you are creating the mission yourself, why dont you make waypoint 1, 90 degs off the runway axis. Therefore whichever runway you get, you can be guaranteed to only have to turn 90 degs to get on course... OR, use static weather and force the wind direction to suit your preferred runway? leafer Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Ok, I'll try setting wind direction to force start on runway of choice. Thanks! I still hope we have option to start on grass field though. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
BlackRazor Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 From what I've read on this forum if an aircraft like the A-10 gets on grass it's big trouble, there is a high chance that it will be stuck and unable to get back to the taxiway.
Silver_Dragon Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Some interesting of ATC can change the heading runway based on wind heading. leafer Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Grass field for Black Shark and the Mustang. :) UPDATE: Man, I tried to rep you guys but can't. Setting wind direction did it. Also, you don't even have to have wind blowing. All it needs is to set the dial and leave the wind speed alone and voila. Edited January 31, 2012 by leafer ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
