hello

I was flying some quick missions and was attempting to use the TGP to help locate an air target.

Of course my wingman always got the tally first so I would have him engage the targets. On the tad you could then look and see where they were via the wedding cake symbol. Then simply move the tgp diamond to the wedding cake and there they are! Then its simply lock on up in point track mode and then...big deal. You did all that work to lock up a target and as far as I can tell it gives no indication on the HUD to the direction of the target like it does in AG mode.

What has to be done to allow the TGP in AA mode to indicate a targets position on the HUD?

Thanks

Nothing-not displayed on the HUD. Utilize the TGP SA cue to tell you where the target is.

At this point it might help to select your sidewinder as SOI and slave it to the TGP using China Hat Forward long. The seeker symbology on the HUD would then move in the direction of the TGP-locked target and you can follow to align the nose with it. Not perfect (only works if there is a sidewinder left), but still...

if you see a bandit, you shouldn't be there.

very seldom if at all, does an A10 go into an AO with air threats. let the fighters deal with it. why send a plumber to do an electricians work....lol

Phoenix that's a good idea I didn't know a sidewinder could be slaved to the tgp! I'll have to try that out!

Thanks for the other tips fellas its helpful!

Also, if you see the "belly" of a bandit (zoom the TGP), you're below him and so on.

Or he's in negative pitch so you're actually above.
