Hello ALL

I have recently bought the game ,and am having some problems starting the left engine in particular,I have followed the training start up procedure, and taken advice from freinds with the sim to no availe I have set the throttles to idle, and off.But the engine will not start the apu is reaching the 100% mark and settles but when the left engine button is used nothing the the engine reading will not rise but a couple of notches, and far from the 25% fan reading, now the right engine does start but sometimes I experience the same problem with this engine to.

I treid the automatic start procedure and the same thing the apu goes to 100% steadys but will not start the engine and after some time will close down automatically.Does anyone have any Ideas please

Please be so kind to post a track. It will make things so much easier and faster analysing what's wrong with your startup.

Try moving your throttle(s) all the way forward and then back to off... if you have an XBox controller plugged in, unplug it (or delete all the bindings to it).

After you are done illustrating the problem in the sim, stop the mission and on the debriefing screen, press "save track". This will create a .trk file that contains all the input you made in that mission, so it will allow a person replaying that track to see exactly what steps you took during startup, hopefully revealing what step is missing. This .trk file you can then attach to your next post in this thread by pressing "go advanced" under the text box, and then pressing "manage attachments", then point the dialogue to the file you want to attach, voila.

Make sure you aren't trying to use the TARGET software because the plug-and-play functionality of the TMW goes out the window with that.

Have you turned on the APU Gen after waiting for the APU to settle at 100%? Also, check that you've turned on all four Fuel Boost Pump switches (Left and Right for both Wing and Main tanks).

Sorry, but you must have mixed up the files, the one you uploaded is a mission file where you start in the air.

o sorry sobek in which case the tracks are not being saved there are three tracks in the mission folder one is the ramp start black sea but I saved it under a different name,so thses must be a default track in the missions folder am I wrong ?

You are posting the mission files, not the track files. Track files have the extension .trk, not .miz.

You have to note where you saved the track. There you will find the .trk file.

You are motoring the Engine on the ground with your throttles at off. Leave the IGN switch at NORM and start the engine by moving the throttle from Off to Idle with RAlt + Home (left engine) and RCtrl + Home (right engine).

Looks like you've started to motor your engine but never hit the starter. You can continue to hit the L ENG OPER switch to motor as you've been doing but once it gets to about 30% you should engage the L ENG STARTER by moving the left throttle from the OFF position (fully aft) to the IDLE position (over the hump). Wait for #1 engine to settle then repeat the process for #2.

Also, you can skip the motoring and go straight to starting the engine if you want. I'm sure there's a situation where motoring would be warranted, but that's a topic for another thread.

No reason to apologize. I see what's going on now. You just activated the starter but never introduced fuel and ignition to the engine.

There are two possible ways to fix that:

Either you use the automatic engine start that is built in to the A-10, where you just have to move the throttle over the idle detent (right alt+home, IIRC) or you continue to use the manual starter controls. In case of the latter, at the point where you were in the track you still would have had to take the throttle over the idle detent (again, right alt+home, the right throttle should be right ctrl+home) and after doing so put the eng oper switch back to norm. The engine will then light off and spool up to idle. Just be careful not to advance the throttle during spool up or it will disrupt the start procedure.

Edit: Double sniped. Shortcuts corrected.

Ok Guys

Well followed your instruction and still got the problem with the left engine, the right engine fired up without a problem. There must be something else going on here when I did the original installe from the disc I had no problems but since using 1.1.1.1 version this has started.I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times now.

Could we see the track with the right engine starting and the left failing?

I had it happen to me again last night , L/H was fine , R/H failed to get above 25% .

Did you turn on your boost pumps? sounds like your engine is not getting fuel, try to idle the right engine, let it settle and turn boost pumps on, and try to start it again!:)

Tried to run up the L/H engine , which worked , the R/H didnt move . exited back to spectator , and then all was well again .

Yep , boost pumps are all on , APU was at 100% , didnt try to start until APU was at 100% .

I can live with it . Just passing on info as I saw this thread .

Cot a yellow rectangle box warning on both MFD'S on start up . Cleared it with OSB-16 and all was ok . Just wonderin why ?
