Svetlano Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Hi All/ED, Some questions on BS2 Steam version. The version there that now is retailing at 24,99€ in Europe does include Black Shark 2.0 ? If not, there will be an update or a full 2.0 version directly relased through Steam ? There's a way to convert to Steam or for ED website, a Key that i bought in Direct 2 Drive when the first BS version was released, if i provide the license key ? Best Regards 1

ED said BS2 will NOT be available on Steam. Sounded pretty permanent when they said it. I don't fully understand your third question, but if you already have a key from D2D, you could use it to install BS1 (available for download at ED website) and simply use this for the BS2 upgrade. 1
Strut Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I have BS on Steam, i want to convert it from Steam to be able to DL from DCS, i dont like the control Steam places on me, however unlike A10 it doesn't have a CD key, my question is how do i get one ? or can i do this without a CD key ? 1 Regards DL available skins here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?CREATED_BY=Strut Pictures of my Skins here: https://imgur.com/a/bOQyQqW [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64bit, Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU OC @ 4.50GHz x6, X99A GAMING PRO CARBON, MSI RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO 11Gb, 32GB DDR4 RAM, SSD 960 EVO250GB, SSD 850 EVO 500GB, JetSeat, MFG Crosswind Pedals, VPC Mongoose T-50, TMWH, DSD ButtonBox, Pimax 5k XR/BE

EtherealN Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) Ah, wait, you were wondering about that? Upgrade version of BS2 will detect Steam BS1, as long as it is installed. So if you have Steam BS1 and want to get BS2, all you need to do is make sure BS1 is installed when you install your BS2. You can test this before purchase if you want through just downloading from the DCS site (no purchase is necessary for download). The BS2 upgrade version will not install at all if it does not see BS1. In this case, just make sure to doublecheck that you download the correct version. The one you want should have red text on the purchase and download pages reminding you of the BS1 requirement. Sorry for being unclear, I thought you were wondering about getting DCS install of Black Shark 1 Edited April 20, 2012 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Strut Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 thx Ethereal thats the answer i was looking for. That will solve the problem of being run by Steam, i gather it will run on its own as BS2. Thx again. I do have BS1 intalled on my computer through steam but the update does not appear to recognise it. Should I have installed the update into the same folder as BS1 overwriting the files as I installed it into a seprate folder? Regards, Mav
winz Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Install to a separate folder. BS2 has it's own activation key. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
MaverickScot Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I may have misunderstood what EtherealN said. It sounded like BS2 is an update for BS1 and you did not need a key if you had BS1 installed on steam as BS2 would recognise this. So my question is, is BS2 an update to BS1 or do you have to pay for it. Mav
cichlidfan Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Yes you have to buy it. It is an upgrade but it does not replace BS1. It requires its own key and it also requires that BS1 be installed and activated. It does not use or overwrite any of the BS1 data. BS1 can actually be removed after installing BS2. So my question is, is BS2 an update to BS1 or do you have to pay for it. Mav It is both. Referensing this link: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop&lang=en There is an "upgrade" version, the first one, that costs $19,95. This one checks for BS1 before it allows installation. It comes with a code. Any version of BS1 is acceptable - including Steam - for this check. Note that aside from the check when installing, it is separate and should not be installed "on top of" BS1. For example, I have BS1 in C:\Games\DCSBS and BS2 in C:\Games\DCSBS2 . The second one is not an "upgrade" version, it is entirely standalone and costs $39,95. Basically, the only difference between the two is that the "upgrade" requires that BS1 is installed and activated when it is installed. After install of BS2, BS1 can be uninstalled if the user so prefers. The reason for this somewhat convoluted exercise is that ED wanted those that already have BS1 to not have to pay full price. The "upgrade" distribution is basically a discount for returning customers. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
