macedk Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) Installed fine (once i found the install procedure..fail on my part) Notes in random order. Yes i know its beta and its just some first points overall, so no gribe at all :) Flight time:approx.10 Min. 1. Take-off Much like i did the first time in il-2..fail. Controls are set-up but not tuned. Tried 4 times and didn't make it... ;) 2. Did an airstart to see what the bird is like...very responsive....it cut the corner fast ...watch the g's (might be overdone..had grey out very fast) 3. Shooting ..ouch..all over the shop, again not tuned controls so hard to tell so soon. 4. stall test: Straight up chop throttle...nothing funky recover fine. I allways test this donno why just me i guess ;) 5. Sound: hard to tell current level of power. Would expect allot more rattle crackling ect. (she's an old school girl nothing computer controlled injection type of stuff) Even in modern jets(read commercial flight) you can hear the gear lock or flaps deployment. External sound with the haul yeeeess :). 6. landing: had no idea of stall speed so kept it around 150 knots..in the dial. Came down ok but ground control was haywire on my part and all of a sudden i can see over the right wing and see the whole runway... a faint tire squeal hehe. More sound and flames ;) 7. New interface well nothing mega new but it's moving towards core base and addon's Nothing here that will scare the old or the new dcs guy. :) 8. What i noticed: Nice ejection model except when doing it on the ground. The new secret thing: People are saying su25-t and some tester.."Viper" hinted that that was not the case. I think it has to do with the in-between stuff ("Viper is this the droids I'm looking for ?" ;)) Pictures paints a thousand words... 9. Overall: Well after only 10 minutes on a beta its not really fair. Usability: 5/10 can't yet see the tie-in with the rest of the dcs idea (yet) model: 8/10 this is based on that they have their own p-51 to look at and model, so model wise it has potential to be the shabang of p-51 sim. flyablilty: No clue really as its been along time since i have flown WW2 sims. Also if this model is as advanced as it could very well be..then I can not judge...ask a p-51 pilot. Gfx: Its a beta so no score on this yet. Sound: 6/10 Its good but it can be alot better...it depends what feel DCS is looking for to be honest. Sound is mega important...take you favourite movie and mute your favourite scene..its just not the same. Allot not covered: Gut feeling/first impression..short and sweet. ;) Mace out :) PEACE. Buckram Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks for this, downloading at the moment. Looking forward to it! Like you said, I am unsure of how it will tie in to the rest of the DCS World. Blaze Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Like you said, I am unsure of how it will tie in to the rest of the DCS World. It's been said over and over that it wasn't meant to "tie in." It was a side project by some of the development team and it looked really promising, so rather than letting all that good work go to waste, they decided to make a module from it. And that's the story of how the DCS: Legends series was born. :P 1 i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. This makes no sense to me. A: DCS is an open simulation environment, not confined to any one era, level of fidelity, or 1st party development. In the future ED and 3rd parties may add all sorts of different units ranging from gliders to X-51s. Q: How is a P-51 supposed to fight in a modern Georgian war against modern aircraft and air defense systems? A: It simply does not need to. It is up to the mission designer to put what units he or she wishes into the mission. Buckram Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 This simulation is excellent.. In my opinion the best one from ED yet, so much detail and such a refreshing change from the usual combat aircraft. I love flying this aircraft, it truly is wonderful. Thank you ED, keep up the fantastic work! 1 Achieving World Peace - One 2000lb JDAM at a time.
