Hi All,

Just wondering how everyone manages to stay alive with no RWR and IR jammer etc. I dont have that many hours in this sim but I manage to find my targets mostly with no labels etc and meet my objectives.

But most of the time when i get destroyed I never seen it coming. I think its A2A attacks from A10's and sometimes Apaches.

I manage to deal with most SAM threats ok.

I stay very low and usually pretty fast to target area. Should I slow down? How do you guys detect air threats with no labels.

If I do see a threat visually do I just run away?

Any tips appreciated.

Playing BS 1.2 - I have 2 but its 2 slow currently.

Thanks

The only advice I could give you is not to stay in one spot firing off your missiles. I the fix wings are around they will see the fire and smoke and start looking for you. If they find you well....Oh and dont pop flares willy nilly too. Again Im a noob at these sims but those were the lessons I learned.

Biggest problem is ATGM's. Either wire guided or by laser. Rule # 1, when you are lased, immediately move from your spot and start moving with your attacker at your 9/3 o'clock. Keep resetting the LWR to see if the attacker is still lasing you. Otherwise you will be shot down in most cases.

The wire guided ATGM's come by surprise but are less acuurate. That's why I never hover unless I'm absolutely sure that the area is clear. The wire guided ATGM's never hit me while moving faster than 50km/h.

But the biggest problem is people that ignore the LWR. Read the section in the manual about it on how to recognize Fwd/normal hemisphere and ranging/guidance mode. It sometimes tells you if there is a missile inbound, although that does not always work for all laser guided missiles. For example: in a red vs blue multiplayer mission I have never been shot down by an enemy (player) KA50 with Vikhr's. The LWR recognizes guidance mode for vikhrs. When I see that the guidance mode lamp is lit, I start moving with the vikhr at my 9 or 3 o'clock. They never hit. Same story for laser beam riding ATGM's.
