One biiig community formation flying (crazy idea)

I remmeber someone talked about this some time ago and I thought, what a hell, why not give it a second try:

 

Why don't we all (the visitors of this eng forum/community) meet up on one of the servers and form a big formation, take screenshots and brag about it to our grandsons? :D

 

We could set a password for the server (no outsiders barging in who are not visiting this specific forum) and set a date for this little experiment.

Well, in that case, we don't have to have all the people online, just say, first 16-18 who reply/check in to this topic. :)

...and then you realise there's 4-5 guys who can't fly formation and they keep crashing or can't keep formation properly and you end up with only an above average formation after 3 hours trying,not to mention 8 of them already left because they don't have time :)

I have good computer and with more than 8 Su27 following I have serious FPS issue, too many polygons duuude. ( I talk about 8 in tight formation , no problem when they are 1 mile away..)

Please post a pic or two if you get it going. Shame I live in another time zone as it would be fun to do. Lag wouldnt be an issue if you talked one of the squads into letting you borrow their server.

I think you'll find this doable with the right number of people. 169th flew an 8 ship formation bombing mission a few times last year, there was no problems with lag, and the formation was reasonably tight. It's different to the AI.

 

Good on you for giving it a shot. If you want to ask for 169th involvement I'm sure we'd all be keen to participate, http://www.169thpanthers.net, visit it and proposition 169th_Ice on it.

 

Would be fun, IF properly organised and with the right people.

 

Password sounds good. I'd suggest putting up a diagram of how the should look, and pre briefing the A/C type, and a speed, heading and altitude to fly on so that everyone can join in. Maybe have it orbiting a base with a 15` turn so that people can take off and join up 1 by one. If you were going to have a TS chanel dedicated, perhaps have a RADIO SILENCE rule, so that the airways are clear for you to direct it all.
