Hello everyone. I was lucky enough to have someone explain to me how to fly more aircraft in DCS:World such as the F-15E, F-16A, F-14A, KC-135, and B-1 Lancer. Yes, you only get to use the Su-25T cockpit, but it's still pretty awesome! Okay so a user on the forum gave me these instructions:

Copy your f-15c folder from:

FC2/Config/Input/Aircraft/f-15c

To folder:

C:/users/username/saved games/dcs/config/input

Then Rename it:

'f-15e' or the exact name of the plane in the game (F-15E, F-16A, etc.)

This is very simple and effective. Some aircraft don't work for this, but the ones I mentioned do. Oh and too fly these aircraft, go to mission editor and select a new vehicle to be placed. Choose the aircraft that you added the controls to and set it to "Client". That should work like a charm. I don't take credit for discovering this by the way. Have fun! :smilewink:

Your F-15E can shoot missiles? If I press the button 6 or 7 game crashes :joystick::(

I'm sorry but...I don't understand why. If all you're doing is wrapping a skin around the frog foot cockpit... Then all you're flying is a frog foot.

Kinda defeats the purpose of having a high fidelity sim doesn't it?

Some people like it, fidelity isn't in the picture. Also it's the start of modding and then onto bigger and better things. You could argue the existing Su25 wasn't a high fidelity sim which makes the point moot i think.

Krebs got this working a few weeks ago but it was using an existing mod on Lockon files. Won't be long before this all comes together as high fidelity sims and we can stop dreaming :)

Haven't had anytime to play, but on the weekend, I will tool around with the weapons. Oh and Sierra99, I get your point. Though it's not a high fidelity sim, it's still very fun to fly around the F-15E or F-16A, even though it might not be realistic.

You can fly other helicopters, just with the Ka-50's cockpit and flight model.

Exactly! ^ Couldn't have said it better myself :D Oh and I'll be appreciative if someone can find out how to make this work in multiplayer. I've seen many people flying F-15E in Servers but can't figure out how!

It doesn't need fc2 to work. You can get the other FC2 cockpits to work as well. Minus the radar. It was fun to play with. There was no need to expand on the work done when FC3 is going to be out sooner or later. When FC3 is out ill continue working on the other " non flyables"

But it looks like you need the FC2 folder to copy from, so you would need to have FC2 in order to do this. I don't have FC2 so I"m curious. Was hoping to talk my wing mates into doing a heritage flight with a P51, A-10C, F-15E, and F-16.

I'm sorry, there's more than one way to skin a cat per say.

I'm not home so I can't say exactly what to do. Go to your username/saved games/ dcs world/ config/inputs/ copy and paste the Su25t

Rename the pasted file the name of the aircraft you want to fly.

Go into the file. There should be a LUA file called entry, or something like that.

Open the file with notepad++.

Replace the part that says Su25t with the aircraft you are trying to fly.

Open dcs world,go to options, and your aircraft should be in there.

The FC2 copy paste is not recommend. The way dcs world file is setup and FC2 is setup is off enough that it can crash with some buttons pressed.

you may have to repeat some steps into the program files/ dcs world/. I don't remember off the top of my head.

Sounds good! I tryed to do what you said and so far I have everything working but the plane starts on the runway completely off. I've tryed starting it but nothing happens. Do you know how to fix this or will you have to wait until you get home?

I'm home now.

1st go to this folder in your install

Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Su-25T\Input\ <--- copy the File called su-25T.

paste it onto your desktop or any handy file you have. It wont be staying here. Rename the File F-15e. Now put this file into C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input.

Now go to C:\Users\Krazy\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\F-15e and open the LUA file NAME.LUA

In this file its going to say return _('SU-25t') Replace it with return _('F-15e')

Now you need to copy this whole input file again. C:\Users\Krazy\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\F-15e Paste it into --->>>Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Input\Aircrafts

Now when you open up DCS world. Go to your options. The F15e will appear. Insert your controls. ECT

Now make a mission in the ME and set the F15 to client. You can fly all you want now.

The sim also crashed on me when i pressed the 6,7 keys. This did not happen in 1.1.1.1.

Just like in the A10c beta where the further along in beta the less other aircraft worked.

Thanks Krebs20! Great post but I have one question:

How do you get the F-15C cockpit from FC2 in it?

Try

copy F-15 Kabina.cmd from FC2 to dcs world...

backup su-25t kabina.cmd in dcs world...

delete orignal su-25t kabina.cmd in dcs world (dont delete the backup)

rename F-15 Kabina.cmd to su-25t kabina.cmd

run the game..

note u will still have su25t hud and f15 mfd will work for gorund targets

Thankyou soo much! Rep inbound!

One thing though, I am doing this with the F-15C instead of the E, and how do I get the Radar and MFDs etc to work?

As far as I kno; you cant do that at the moment unless u create a mod that sits in mods folder in DCS world with its codes for HUD and radar... me and krebs workin on it at the moment, still learning the basics though... my F-18 model almost done which gives me some time 2 help krebs with the rest of the mod. hope we can deliver

Did a test with out my wing last night and had some interesting results. We tried the F-15E, F-16A, and F-14A. With the F-15E it crashed quite frequently when we tried to do anything. But the F-14A and the F-16A behaved quite well. I could fire the guns on both and was even able to arm it on the ground. I'm looking to see if I can figure out how to get the AIM-9 to fire now.

Here's some pictures:

So my next question: is anyone keeping track of which aircraft this works with on the latest version of DCS World? I was going to go through the aircraft list and see what other aircraft I would like to fly and give it a shot.

As anyone been successul at deploying bombs or air-to-air missiles?

Either way it was a blast to fly.
