ArmA 2 Combined Ops Multiplayer

Hi people,

 

I was wondering if anybody has a good game/mission or server type thing that I can join? I have had Arma for ages, but I cannot get any multiplayer servers to work for some reason. Probably my many Mods.

 

Anyway that would be awesome if anybody is interested. I have TS3 and a mic.

Oh yeah, please no DayZ as it's just too complicated to install.

P.S: I know that ArmA websites like Armaholic are for these kind of posts, but frankly, this place is far more user friendly, to me anyway:D

You need the latest patches etc for Arma and there are often updates if you find you cannot get on a server that will be why. Six updater is a program that will help if you have mods. As for patches just keep an eye on armaholic as they often have links there. Six updater is a good program and its something maybe ED should check out as ACE2 often has patches every month and with the updater it shows if there is a patch for each mod and will update them. With all these addons in development they will be in the same situation as WW2, Korea mods will be online. Its much easier to keep up with whats going on and keep them updated.:thumbup:

Thaks for the reply! I just downloaded the latest OA beta patch, and I will try tomorrow because the holidays start (I'm still at high school).

Oh yeah, I counted my modfolders in the Arma 2 directory.......186....:P

Looks like I have some cleaning to do:D

I really enjoy the 2.03 version of Insurgency. Lots of interesting stuff if you want to play as infantry.

 

No mod required...just start in Combined Operations.

You may wanna try using ArmaII launcher (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241) to keep track of your mods, it allows you to group certain mods into certain folders and enable them and disable them with relative ease.

 

Also it has some nifty features in the launch options like selecting number of cpus, max memory that can speed your game up. And no splash screen and selecting default world to empty will mean the game loads faster.

With the Six updater it will update all mods as required and let you know if any more updates are available for each mod. I just use ACE2 as thats the best mod.

My clan - OCB runs a server with Patrol Ops on it mostly. It's task based co-op gameplay. It's been pretty popular with public players.

Oh yeah, I also found this 'City Life 2 RPG' thing. I am downloading it now via SixUpdater and it looks really fun can't wait to play. But you have to have an interview and its like trying to join the CIA:D

Yep just filter the search to OCB. Best if you're around Australia though.

 

We also fly DCS World so should advertise for more players at some point.

Okay, I found another really goid server called OAB. You don't have to be on Teamspeak to fly which is good, because isn't TS3 pointless in Arma 2 when it has a fantastic built in comms system?

 

Anyway, you need to filter the search, because now, about 2000 Day Z servers and like 10 normal ones:P Almost everything to do with Arma 2 is Day Z now..... (lol what happened to "Military Simulator" :D)

 

Personally I hate zombies and will stay away from Day Z. But that's just me because I am a realism fanatic:) That's why I play DCS:D

Yeah, I have ACE 2. Its amazing:D I love how they simulate wind physics, explosives, real sound and anything else in modern warfare.

The only downside to ACE is it's a biatch to try and install:P

It's one of the mods that I absolutely refuse to play without. Have a server set up where me and a few friends of mine tend to muppet around on Warfare-maps playing strictly Co-op. Tried out the Warfare-map for Falluja yesterday, and with AI difficulty set to High it's a tad on the insane side.

 

And DayZ.....blegh, don't get me started. It's probably a good mod, but I'm so sick of Zombie-games these days that I could yell for moose :puke:

Try Project Reality. Its a Mod for Arma 2 Combined operations especially for PvP gameplay. Its immersive and team based. Its a easy to install EXE file. Made for public players that dont want to join a clan for some good team based PvP.

PR ..... authorised servers ... meh

 

uhh whata re yout alking about? No authorised server. If you install the mod every public player can join in. You only have to be authorised to start a server otherwise its gonna be the same joining mess as the other public servers where you need 100 different Addons.

2 click install with a executable and your done. Way less hassle than joining other servers. Unless you want to play boring Arma 2 vanilla with no good PvP action at all.

With Arma 1 I also used to use Cold War mod with Warfare which is quite good. M60s driving around and old T72s.:thumbup:

 

For Arma2 ACE2 I did have hunt for Col Aziz which is really good as mp or SP and has a good body count and plenty of sniping. I'm now looking for a new mission with the same stuff. Col Aziz BTW is not at the 1st Army Base which makes it alot of fun.:thumbup:

What I dont get is do you need to remove Ace 2 to use PR? I disabled ACE from my expansions folder the other day and completely f**ked up Arma 2.... took me three hours to figure out what was wrong:D

I had the dreaded 'include file xaceaddonsmain_scriptsmarcos.hpp not found' fatal ACE 2 message:P

 

Anyway forget that, I fix if it happen again:) If PR is as easy to install as just run a .exe file, then I'll definitely check it out.

 

EDIT: Oh yeah, if anyone has trouble with ACE 2 and/or a similar error as described above, give me a PM and I'll be more than happy to help you out:)
