badger66 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 PM me if your interested in a Saitek X52 pro then ..... I got a good deal . I got someone else askin but he lives a bit far away for post .
Cedaway Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 (edited) Begin with TIR. It will greatly improve your situational awarness. I've got the TM Warthog too and yes, it's a huge piece of metal, it's a superb and usefull joystick BUT, if I'd have to choose, I would (as I did) choose to first buy TIR instead of TM Warthog. For joystick, you might find X-52 not too expensive. I had one, great Hotas... Edited July 1, 2012 by Cedaway DCS Wish: Turbulences affecting surrounding aircraft... peter Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Both make the sim absolutely perfect. If you want the best experience possible you must bite the bullet like the rest of us and get both. Im glad i did. But should also realize that the warthog stick comes with some very powerful software that lets you do nearly anything with it for any other simulator as well. Also the TiR is useful in many other games as well. BOTH! :)
Cali Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I wouldn't fly without my TrackIR and I will fly with a cheaper HOTAS, if I had to. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
MTFDarkEagle Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Yes same. Get the TIR first, then the TMWH. :) 1 Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Revvin Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I think TrackIR delivers so much more immersion than a HOTAS no matter what brand or price and without TrackIR you end up losing a hat switch or mouse cursor on your HOTAS too
Quantenpresbyterianer Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Thank you all for the replies. I just ordered the TIR. Not sure about the joystick yet - the x52 looks good, but the Hawg looks much better ;) Well the € crashes soon anyway. Therefore to hell with the dough - I'll get the TM Warthog. Win10, i5 3570K@4GHz, OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Gigabyte GTX 980, TM HOTAS Warthog, TM Cougar MFD, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder, TrackIR5

That's the spirit, buy both cos that's the best stuff. If you don't, there will always be a nagging voice in your head every second you're not using this combo. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

PeterP Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Thank you all for the replies. I just ordered the TIR. OK! Than you should have a read over here to be prepared for the things to come: Newcomer - TrackIR advice » As EtheralN said : Be prepared to give your Brain some time to build up some new nerve pathways/synapses in your cortex . This has nothing to do witch your intellect - it's in some way more a biochemical learning process. Some people will learn it in about a half hour - some must sleep it over... So please don't be disappointed if you have first great difficulties in using this tool effective - it needs some patience and time, and forcing it will be counter-productive. Getting a little dizzy and disorientated at first is absolute normal - it will soon become a second nature for you - so don't put it aside because of this (some folks did- and never touched it again...) -so make some pauses between your "learning sessions". Please have a look at this video to understand how to fine tune it once you get used to the Head-Tracker (doing this tuning at the very first time will make you go insane! - you have been warned !!!): And please also read the manual that comes with it!!! I saw so many postings about issues that could be easily solved when the posters would have read the manual beforehand - instead of hammering their questions into the keyboard !!

kokoweems Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Tough choice. I went with the Warthog HOTAS first and then trackir. If you already have a good HOTAS I would suggest trackir first.
chief Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 If you can afford the TM then why not get a satek x65 and a track ir. might be about same price in the end. The x65 is MUCH better than x52
