Hi guys,

Latest update of my build, after my beloved said no to the full build a couple of weeks ago, Ive been looking for a way that would work for both of us. Im pleased to announce that after a few weeks of ideas, We have finally found a plan that will work.

The build is taking place, though sadly over an extended period. While I wouldnt normally build a pc over several months, im confident as most items in the PC have stood still for a while, I can get away with this.

The build will be in 3 stages.

Stage one.

1. 8GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600MHZ Ram - purchased currently using as upgrade in old machine.

2. Coolermaster Storm trooper tower case - Purchased - delivered yesterday, and I can tell you, Shes a stunner :)

Stage two ( September )

1. Intel I5 3570K processor - Going to overclock to 4.4 MHZ

2. Sabertooth Z77 MotherBoard

3. Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 13

4. Samsung 830 SSD 128GB

All other items will be moved over from Current Machine.

AMD 5870 1GB

3 TB Hard Disc

DVD RW drive

Blu Ray Drive

1000w PSU

3 x 23" Monitors

Stage 3 ( January )

1. 2 X Nvidia 670s 2GB

2. Razer Black Widow Ultimate Gaming Keyboard

3. Razer Naga MMO 5600DPI Mouse

So there we go, OK its gonna take me 6 months to get everything going, But I think It will be worth it. If anyone spots something that can be bettered or should be changed then please let me Know, Obviously from Stage 2 onwards as Stage 1 is already safely with me.

See Guys, you keep on at your wife, sooner or later they may give in. ;) ( god I hope she dosnt read this :D )

Your wife has not the slightest idea what she agreed on and what kind of time-vampire she is letting in her house...

(I could need some tips how you have done this :music_whistling:)

You may consider purchasing in the order you can use them.

The DDR3 is good as long as it's compatible with your existing system. Many are DDR2 and below.

Things that can be used are

1. Power supply. ( usually the first thing needed if upgrading)

2. Video card. Since the power supply was upgraded the video card should be supported and will give a good boost.

3. Mobo, CPU, Ram. Usually best to get together.

4. SSD. I would normally put it closer to the top but lately the prices have been dropping. If you have to wait it's a good one that might save money or get a larger one for the same price as today.

5. Operating system. An OEM copy of windows 7 home will support you to 16 gig of ram. 32 bit will only support to 3-4 gig. Higher versions will support more ram but not worth the extra cost imo.

6. Second Hard drive. Keep pictures, music etc on a 2nd driver and keep the ssd as empty as possible. A 2tb drive goes for just over a hundred bucks and worth having.

Good Luck

Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive,

GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals. Trackir 5, Verizon FIOS 25Meg Up/Down

Cheers Hamblue, already checked my psu, I upgrade every 18 months so still pretty good, 1000w PSU with more than enough connections and power to run 2 x 670s, sadly the GPUs will have to wait as I don't have the £600 needed to get both, so doing MB, CPU, SSD and Cooler first. Already got case and only bought 8GB DDR3 last week, which is compatable. Hard drives, planning to use the 3 x 1TB I have now for storage again these are 18 months old.

Will install using the Windows 7 64 bit I already have.

All in, I reckon the upgrade will cost around £1250 over 6 months, which isn't too bad and £700 cheaper than my full build costs.

I'm keeping my eye out for the post when you convince her to let you build a pit. :cheer3nc:

All ready happened. :) been getting the wood together and got the plans for the stencils off the wonderful guys here. Going to be based off Jedis pit. Currently looking into the electronics for the switches and just got the transfers for the Aces II seat from Deadman.

Got permission, to put it in the loft, which is already floored with lighting and electric. Only issue is the temp up there jumps all over the place as it is still just a loft rather than a converted space. Just need to clear out one side to make space, then try and find a way to keep it at one temp. Last pc up there died within 6 months :( due to the temp changes.

Like I said she's a great lass, anyone else would have kicked my butt out by now ;)

So, baiscally, any Amiga 500 (running @ 7.1Mhz) on the market will be twice as fast as your OC hardware (3570K @4.4Mhz) . but you're considering adding a lot more ram and SSDrives... interesting !

I hope your falcon 3.0 will run great ont this machine.

Congrats !
