I assume that in order to have a P51 simulator they would need to have some Axis forces in the skies as well, right?

With the A-10 you're primary roll was CAS and so they could get away with mostly ground targets inside the missions.

So what types of enemy planes do they plan to model?

there is word on Me-109. Possibly zeroes in the future, probably by 3rd party devs. ED is perfecting the Stang as we write, so lets not piss onkel Wags and onkel EtherealN. Let it glide, man!

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I have not seen ED anounsing an new WWII fighter so there I guess its up to modders to do something. I've of course seen the videos of Me-109 and Spitfire in DCS World on youtube but that project is just starting of I think. And by posts on the Italian forum they did not all seam to agree :D Dont expect anything sure before an official anounsment is a good approach.

It would be awesome to have a lot of WWII aircrafts, ground units shooting flac, trains, ships, cars, trucks and of course WWII maps. :D

So assuming its left to modders, they plan to release the P51 with nothing more than a training area and P51 vs. P51 dogfights? Seems odd.

Well, ED have earlier posted that the P-51 was a side project and that it was mainly "proof of consept". In the development of the "proof" they was so satisfied that it became a product that they could anounse. I hope ED is satisfied with the feedback from the comunity (at least part of it) and sees the need for more WWII content tho I cant say I've seen any souch anounsment from ED.

I didn't, but just did. Just to clarify I am NOT disappointed with the purchase as I love the P51 and every other release in the series. I was just trying to get a bigger picture of what to expect, and possibly whats to come.

Thanks for the clarification!

No bother :)

Put it this way, there is currently a HUGE void that can be filled by a savvy third-party developer........A talented individual/s will make a killing with WWII modules and add-ons: Fact!

Oh yes, very true ... and we now have WWII headgear, so it's started already you see! If only I were that easy to please :D

Can barely contain my excitement (these downloads are rather on the biggish side), after reading what Wags announced. I wish I could pull a sickie tomorrow!

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!
