I currently have a CH Fighterstick and Pro Pedals but feeling I'm missing out without forcefeed back, mainly because I fly Ka-50 and want the trim to work correctly. I don't understand why there are so few sticks to choose from. It seems a toss-up between the Microsoft Sidewinder FFB 2 or Logitechs G940 (which having read reviews I have no confidence in). And it seems the MS SFFB 2 is a little short on buttons. Why don't we have a CH Fighterstick with FFB? Anyone?

I know it's possible to bodge bits and pieces together but lets face it, it's far better to have something that just works out the box. Is there another option apart from the two sticks I mentioned; perhaps a less well known manufacturer? Has anyone heard of a new FFB stick in the pipeline at all?

I owned a MSSFFB2 years back and while I remember the forcefeed back being very good, I know it didn't have a feeling of quality when it came to the buttons. That's not to say it's unreliable, just talking about the feel of it in the hand.

I think the going rate for a used MSFFB2 is a pretty good indicator that nobody knows of another good source for an FFB stick. ;)

As long as the majority of the flight-simulation crowd is spending 300+ on a HOTAS without FFB and still claiming that this is the best stick they ever had...

I also wouldn't think about spending development time in FFB - when I would be a manufacturer.

And the most of the simmer simply have not a clue what they miss....:music_whistling:

buttons are not everything...

Here is a example:

Constantly rolling to...

So they just don't ask for FFB - simply because they don't know it better.

And when a market analyses shows that there is no real demands for this product - it wont be build for the mass-market.

another sad thing is that some of the developers even ditched a FFB support: Cliffs of Dover don't supports a MSFFB2....

(Developer says : We don't support a 10 years old product....)

I'm just so glad that the Flight-Model guru from ED, Yo-Yo, has also a great opinion about FFB implementation and uses also a MSFFB2.

Well,

the G940 is (was) a very good approach- but they just foozled the software-part completely. That's just so sad.

I had it standing on my table for 5 days as the stick was released - and than I returned it because I soon realised the I have to make to many modifications to get real use of it. and the force is a little under dimensioned when comparing with a MSFFB...

There is a little Dutch team that came along with a very nice "prototype" of a hydraulic driven stick - but up to know it too expensive to hit the mass-market and the design is not something that a "hardcore"-flight-simmer would want to have at home. - and (I think) they didn't have the resources to add a fully functional grip on it.

If you ask me - they just missed the opportunity to "only" build a X/Y FFB base that is compatible to a cougar/warthog grip including a extension and a PS2cable

No - instead of this they build something I would expect to see in a Flash-Gordon remake...

see yourself>>>http://www.paccus.nl/

...to get today a real Functional FFB-HOTAS that is also affordable you are more or less forced do something similar like this up to know:

So folks the best FFB stick you can get your mitts on is..

A Microsoft one...... that was discontinued about 10 yrs ago......

Just to say that my Micrsoft FFB wheel is still going strong. *touch wood*

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I currently don't use it but I picked up an FFB2 last year, just to hold onto for future possibilities.

It looks like none of the joysticks manufacturers is able to bring a FFB stick to the market for a price that market is willing to pay. It seems to me that proper FFB stick would cost way more then $500. I just can not afford to pay that much for a joystick.

Nonsense.

The MS FFB2 had a MSRP of $109. I can tell you it is heads and tails above the G940. That is coming from someone who has owned both products (and STILL owns both products). I bought it new and it still works as good today as the day I bought it.

There is no justification for these sticks to cost $500.00 USD except that stupid people are willing to pay it.

Logitech charged an MSRP of $299.99 to sell a stick with absolutely horrid build quality. It's main selling feature was the fact it was FFB. The fact that Logitech implemented this so badly when MS mastered it over 10 years ago should be an indicator of the state of HOTAS manufactures these days.

Feel free to attempt justification for a $500 hunk of plastic made in China with horrible build quality......

I know it's coming.

My understanding of why there are no new FFB sticks being manufactured is in the patent for "Force Feedback". A company that once made a rumble motor, patented it as "Force Feedback" and proceeded to make it's revenue from litigating against other "Force Feedback" manufacturers. (Including M$.)

Hi,

Take a look at this:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=146343

I'm afraid that currently its the only option out there...

Maybe we need to make some adapters to various grips. Incorporating the FF2 base, so it will be available for those who cant do it from their own reasons...

Cheers !

Concise and accurate.

I have many Logitech products that I am happy with but there attempt at an FFB stick was the biggest disappointment.

I strongly suspect that at least one person lost their job over that debacle.
