chimp Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hi all i'am new to dsc and think it amazing game I have been flying the Su-25t now for awhile but one thing I syrugle with is landing in the training mission when you go to return auto pilot it take you to the glide and then starts to auto land and you have a set height the plane fly when your in auto buy when I go do campain the return auto sends me straight up higher and higher and then take me straight to airport and then crashes on it or it goes into landing auto after return journey and again lands me no were near airport and crashes please help a nooenjoy this game more:pilotfly:
joey45 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Don't use auto land then... P.S. I didn't know the Su-25T had an auto land function.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. marcos Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) You're supposed to disengage it at 50-100m. It will not successfully complete a landing, the name is misleading. As a tip I would jettison all stores prior to landing as it will allow you to land at a slower speed. Use SHIFT+F to put flaps in second down position and lower the gear using G obvioulsy. Slow to around 260kph at 70-80% engine speed with the airbrakes fully deployed. You'll have to play with the engine speed a bit. You should still stay airborne at this speed minus stores. Touch down right at the very start of the runway with a very shallow angle (remember height is in metres) and immediately reduce engine speed to idle after landing. At 200kph press P to release the chute, any faster and it will rip off (yes it's a crap chute). Apply the wheel brake shortly after deploying the chute. It will seem to take a long time to slow down from 260 to 200kph, not sure how well this is simulated, but don't panic, 200-0kph is fairly fast by comparison. P.S. Didn't know there were flyable training missions. Edited August 12, 2012 by marcos
159th_Viper Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Chute can be deployed at any speed below 300km/h, provided of course that your throttle is at idle. marcos Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hmm I haven't found that. I'll try it again when I'm next playing, maybe my engines weren't quite on idle.
chimp Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Thank you guys for reply I will try that and yer it got flyable training mission in single missions and were do I go to get repaired when landed pls and I want to buy a module whih one to you guys recomend buy first sorry about spelling I'm using phone so keeps changing words when finnished so I am sorry.

To repair just shut your engines down anywhere on the airfield and wait. As for modules, depends on you're style. The shark is a pig to learn but incredibly effective when you pop up and start decimating tanks while the A-10's circle and try to attack. The A-10 is probably easier to learn, you can just put it in a circle while playing with weapons and probably gives you more instant satisfaction. (It isn't instant but far easier I think, plus the gun's good fun. :P) P-51 is if you like the flying aspect of the sims rather than the "BLOW @%*& UP" end. I don't have CA. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
marcos Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Repair doesn't always work, it depends on the damage.
chimp Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 That great thank all for the help guys hope to fly with one of you one day!:pilotfly:
Razor5-1 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I think what you are referring to as auto land is actually the "route following" mode of the auto pilot. This is why it changes altitude. In the mission each waypoint has an altitude assigned to it. The altitude of the landing waypoint is 0. I believe this is why your flying into the ground at the airfield.
marcos Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 The manual describes it as Landing Mode, entered with LAlt-6 when avionics are in landing operational mode. It also says that it disengages automatically at 50m AGL leaving the aircraft to fly into the ground. I've stopped using the autopilot really. Not worth the effort. Causes more problems than it solves by leaving trim out of whack and leaving jobs, like landing, unfinished.
zerver Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Autopilot landing works perfectly. This is step-by-step how it should be executed. Mission Guns & rockets practice, test started at waypoint 4 (target area, long way from airfield). -press 1 to switch mode to RETURN (ВЗВ) and engage autopilot "route following" (keyboard A). -autopilot will then ascend to ~3k altitude (for some reason...) and fly towards the airfield. -watch your speed (!), autopilot will do some tight turns/descends , don’t allow it fly slower than 300 km/h (or faster than 500 km/h) or you crash/miss the runway. -autopilot will automatically switch mode to LNDG/ПОС and start approach. -when runway 8 is in front of you, maintain 300 km/h speed, flaps all the way down, gear too. -when you are lower than 50 m above the ground, disengage autopilot (LALT+9), flare aircraft yourself and land. -after touchdown throttle to idle, wait 2-3 seconds, open dragging chute. EDIT: If you are landing with air brakes on, give engines some more time before opening chute. DO NOT open dragging chute when engines RPM is more than 40% or IAS more than 300 km/h. EDIT2: LALT+6 is "route following" autopilot mode, but in this "guide" I was using keyboard A command (called simply "Autopilot"), not LALT+6. Edited August 13, 2012 by zerver 1
marcos Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I think the argument is that autopilot landing does not land automatically. You still have to do stuff, hence not really 'auto'.
