Hey guys, i'm in the market for a touch screen, since i own a mac and i run bootcamp just for DCS World i've been waiting to see if i can find one that's mac compatible as well but it's getting hard to find one so i figured i'll get one that works on windows at least for DCSW, any recommendations?

Thanks.

I use the ACER T231 too, great touchscreen:thumbup:

I think that the Acer is almost the only option to consider. I have an HP, but that model is not available any more, I think.

I just bought the ACER T231H and now I'm wondering, have any of you found a way to remove the springloaded rear support leg, short of taking the whole thing apart? As far as I can tell, the leg is screwed on from inside the cabinet ?

It's not possible to remove it without seriously taking the screen apart. I've taken off the rear panel because I was wondering about the same thing, but the rear support leg is actually screwed from the front, so you would have to remove the panel from its housing in order to get to the screws holding the leg in place. I therefore decided to leave it as it is.

Yep, I pretty much came to the same conclusion.

It turns out it's not really in my way when it's mounted anyway, and this way I can just put it on a shelf to the side of my pit, when setting up for racing. It's pretty good for displaying the telemetry too.

All my monitors support the VESA 100 mounting stardard. That is a very essential thing to me when I choose my monitors. Two of my current three monitors are VESA-mounted (removed their original stands). Only the third one is still with its own stand, but it supports the VESA mount as well.

Oh, it does support Vesa 100, it's just that the springloaded leg or stand is not removable. Well, not without taking the monitor chassis completely apart anyway.. When mounted the leg can be folded flat against the back of the monitor, but it then protrudes about 5 cm beneath the bottom of the screen.

Hey guys, thank you for the advice! I found a nice deal on a Dell ST2220T, it's 21.5 inches which will be nice and has it tilts so i don't have to get a VESA mount for it, I should be getting it by wednesday or thursday so when it arrives I will post my first impression :-)

Hey guys, I got he Dell ST2220T and managed to get it working running helios and loz profile, it was a bit of a pain to set it up since it was a second screen and it wanted to work only if it was set as the main monitor, so far its working great.

If anybody gets it and has difficulty setting it as a second screen PM me and i will help :-)

I think I had the same problem with my touch screen, but managed to fix it by tweaking some Windows Control Panel Display settings. Cannot remember the details any more, because it was over a year ago.

BTW, perhaps you already noticed but the screen picks up some ridiculous amount of finger print marks. The screen looks kinda filthy after some hours of use. You can see the marks especially during daylite when the monitor is off.

The annoyance has to do with Windows thinking it knows best. Best in this case would be for the touchscreen to be the primary monitor.

These are the things that might/probably will need attention.

Quoted from Gadroc's page.

Windows needs to understand which monitor is your touch screen. If your mouse moves on another screen when you click on your touch screen you need to execute this step.

  • From the start menu select “Control Panel” then open the “Tablet PC Settings” control panel.
  • Click on the Setup button and follow the instructions on screen. Take special note to press enter without tapping your touchscreen when the message is displayed on normal monitors.

Disable Input Panel Tab

Windows 7 has features to help you use your touch screen as a primary input device. Unfortunately these can get in the way and cause problems when using Helios to play a game. We can disable this input panel tab to prevent it from showing up when we don’t want it.

  • While you have the “Table PC Settings” window open, click on the tab labeled “Other” and then click on “Go to Input Panel Settings”.
  • Now uncheck the “Use the Input Panel tab” option and click the Ok button.

Disable Auto Right Click

By default Windows right clicks when you touch and hold on a touch screen. This is great for interacting with Windows explorer or other regular applications, but causes problems when you are trying to hold down a lamp test or MFD button. Luckily we can change this behavior as well.

  • From the start menu select “Control Panel” then open the “Pen and Touch” control panel.
  • On the Pen Options tab click on the Press and Hold pen action and then click on the “Settings” button.
  • Uncheck “Enable press and hold for right-clicking” then click the OK button.
  • Switch to the Flicks tab and uncheck the “Use flicks to perform common actions quickly and easily”. You can also uncheck “Display flicks icon in the notification area” if you want.
  • Next, switch to the Touch tab.
  • Click on the Press and hold touch action and then click on the “Settings” button.
  • Uncheck “Enable press and hold for right-clicking” and then click the OK button.
  • Now close the Pen and Touch control panel by clicking the OK button.
