I have done some up grading on my pc. I have gone from a HD 5770 to a HD 7970 and a P8H67 to a Sabertooth Z77. My ram is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220466

Is it worth it to go with faster ram 16g

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231587

Also is it worth to go with a new Ivy Bridge I7 to replace my I7 Sandy Bridge for the 3.0 bus speed for my GPU. I dont want to waste money on a upgrade that does nothing. But Im looking at a SSD. I have a rapter.

Im taking the 5770 and P8H67 to build my dad a new computer for FC2 and

World.

Yes to SSD, no to SB versus IVB.

Get some Samsung Green RAM.

Overclocks great, very low profile, too. Have a look at some reviews at the overclocking and latency tests.

I don't see much point in going for IVB over SB really but, if you have to, then do it or buy your Dad a cheaper SB chip that isn't aimed at OCing but has decent speeds and keep yours.

PCI 3 versus 2. I don't think there is any difference. Next Gen cards like 700 Series and what not may fulfill that but by then Haswell will be out and maybe even then might not make use of the full bandwidth of PCI3.

Someone else may know more about that...

EDIT, ah noticed you're not yet running 1600MHz, you'll see a benefit from 1333 to 1600 I believe but any more than 1600 the benefits are negligible.

Thats funny the ram you suggested is the same that asus support said to get. But here's the thing I dont overclock because im not sure how. I dont want to damage my cpu. If your overclocking your ram from 1600 to lets say 1800 I would prefer to get ram at that higher speed unless there it a benefit of overclocking. Now I have a better cpu fan like this but 80mm.

I could oc but.....:book:

SSD is in the near future.

To just be clear the lower the timing the better? What are you oc ram to.

Pci3 will make a difference if you are running a multi-gpu setup, but for a single card it won't saturate the bus.

Only thing worth upgrade it SSD, faster RAM is hardly any beneficial in games and PCIE2 to PCIE3 won't make any diferrence either (PCIE2 buss is still not saturated at all)

I believe if the drive your game is on is not a main drive on which windows is installed, you can copy/paste the content of that drive onto SSD then replace it on next boot, the drive letter will automatically change and what used to be D: drive on standard HDD will become D: drive on SSD.

You can try this and if it doesn't work you will still have original data on original HDD... but I'm pretty sure it will work.

After looking around its said to do a fresh install on ssd. Not recommended to copy OS from hd. Will the SSD let World run better. I know there will be faster load times just dont if game performance.

Assuming your system disk content will fit on the SSD then disk cloning is viable, I know a number of people who have done it without issue.

Personally, I would consider it a good opportunity for a clean rebuild but that's just me.

I didn't recomend to copy/paste content of the HDD that OS is on, if you have only 1 HDD then definitely is best to do fresh install of OS and everything else.

Do a fresh install. Yes it makes a difference to load times in DCS. I use a Samsung 830. Highly recommended. There is also the 840 coming soon so you may want to wait.

Alternatives are the Crucial M4 and the Plextor M5 (I think it's called)

My next SSD will be the Samsung 840.

There are some good links out there for SSD optimisation. Have a read but take some of the advice with a pinch of salt.

The SSD Magician Software that the Samsung comes with does a nice job at tuning the system. Dunno about other brands but I presume it's the same.

Here is a link I generally worked through.

I got the Samsung 840. Did a fresh install. Got World up and running A10c but theres a problem. Eyefinity is tearing bad. Put back in my rapter and no problems. Great. Load times are only 20% faster from ssd to rapter for World. Thought I would see more.

tearing can't be related to HDD type... double check your settings (in game and OS) as looks like v-sync is not working for you on new OS install.

About loading times, well that depends how fast the SSD is... some are faster then others... generally also with same SSD type, ones of higher capacity will be faster than those of lower capacity.
