Noticed that after I re-installed Virtu MVP my FPS in DCS went way up.

Seems I thought it was the last update that did it, but nope, it wasnt. So the other day I uninstalled Virtu MVP, and back to low 15-25 FPS in Free Flight Sukhumi mission. Re-installed it, and the FPS shot way back up again.

Now I hear good and bad things about VirtuMVP and its Vsync, and its performance booster. But going from 15-25 fps to 37-60 is pretty outstanding.

Now are these real numbers, or just fluff? Anyone else try using this?

I can't use it (due to my hardware) so i can't really comment but...

Quite some years ago, i updated a videodriver once and although i always reboot after such an update, that time i didn't. I just fired up my flightsim and when i put the FPS counter on, my jaw hit the desk because it had almost doubled. At first i thought something was wrong with the FPS counter but i really noticed a big change in motionfluid. It went from good to superb.

Then it occurred to me that i didn't reboot so i did and loaded up the sim again but the effect was gone and all came back to normal. But it was really noticeable. I then tried to reproduce the same thing by uninstalling the new driver, reinstalling the old one and then update again but the effect never happened again...

So if you see a big difference in motion sweetness between 15-25 FPS and 37-60 FPS (and you should at those numbers), it's real, if you don't, it's fluff.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Is this limited to Z77 chipset motherboards?

Can I use it on P8P67 ASUS MBO?

Sure looks interesting in theory...

From the website: Virtu has been designed for Sandy Bridge platform H Series (H61/H67 and Z68 platforms) with 2nd Generation Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs.

Well, it is fluid motion. I am really, really surprised now.

When I put this PC together I installed it, and read about it, but never saw a big difference when using it with other games. RoF ran the almost the same with it on or off. CLoD was the same. When playing ArmA with it actually seemed to cause issues.

Needless to say I was desperate to get my FPS back up after the 1.2.1 and its updates, and figured I would try it again. I also changed some settings in Nvidia CP, as well as in game. I thought that was the cause of the huge increase. So I uninstalled it. Right back to low FPS. Installed it again...back to great FPS.

So as of right now, Virtu MVP has more than doubled my FPS in DCS. This is odd. But I aint complainin.

I know its too much to ask... but, could you record two videos in DCS with FRAPS FPS visible, with Virtu on and off...? :)

Something like this:

Sure, I can try. Never used FRAPS. There is a free version yes?

Ok, has to be a fluke.

I recorded a few tracks with VirtuMVP, and the FPS went from 54-60 down to 37-40's while recording. Ok, finished that.

Disabled VirtuMVP and recorded with the same results. WTH?

Uninstalled VirtuMVP and started up again...same results. WTH x2 now?

Not sure what is going on, but yeah, seems something else was causing the huge slow down or huge FPS increase, because with VirtuMVP on or off, same difference.

So here is what was done:

1. Installed World 1.2.1 got horrible fps.

2. Update after update fps got better, but not great.

3. Lowered AA from 16x to 8x, which I never had to do in 1.2.0. . Changed supersampling to multi, and AF to application controlled.

4. Installed VirtuMVP.

5. Everything worked like a champ in the fps department.

6. Uninstalled VirtuMVP.

7. Launched World Sukhumi Free Flight....horrible FPS again.

8. Installed VirtuMVP, fps back to great.

9. Posted here.

10. Doing what Aries asked, recorded the tracks with VirtuMVP

11. Uninstalled VirtuMVP. Still getting good FPS.

:crash: Color me confused. Sorry to waste the time, but in 192 minutes, the video's will be on youtube lol.

Someone somewhere is complaining about their poor FPS in DCS when magical fixes like this (and SoftTH) exist...

If I wasn't running two GTX680's I would be all over this, but it also seems to mimic the 100% gains I have acheived with SoftTH, so I am OK.

Outstanding find to the first person that reported it.

Info about this is a bit hard to track down, but in a nutshell, certain on-board GFX chips will work with this. This will not work with Crossfire or whatever Nvidia calls their more-than-one-card rig (not exactly techie talk, I know...).

Something as important as this should not be hidden in a hard-to-find post in a bug report thread.

Any word on those videos yet Loki?

Installed my new asus sabertooth motherboard with a GTX 580 but can't make MVP run it crashes every time.

What versions do you use?

Using whatver the latest verion is. I had to update my IntelHD graphics driver or whatever in order to get it to work.

About the videos, there is nothing really to post. I was uploading them and it was a stupid amount of upload time for a 30 sec video.
