Bushaman Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) hey guys, really getting the hang of the A-10c. Getting a little tired of flying solo and curious about the best way to get started in multiplayer flying. Are most people in some type of squad or are they just flying with the friends? Teamspeak a must? Any other tips for me before I kickoff my online flying? Thanks! Meatwod Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Visit the 476th Virtual Fighter Group to see if you are interested in flying with our group. We focus strictly on realism, so brevity and standard ops are emphisized. There is currently a long wait for an open slot, but you can always join our TS server and meet the brass. This is my opinion, but flying multiplayer without voice comms is pointless. It is no different than single player. Most MP missions developed for DCS require Co-op and voice comm is a must. The 104th Server is always busy and has a decidated TS channel. If you browse the server list, look for open servers with a TS channel identified in the mission description. Join the channel and hang out if no one else is around. If there are people on the server, but aren't chatting in TS then send an ingame chat for a wingman to join the TS channel. This server has a little of everything, so you don't have to stick with just the A-10. Stay away from higher ping rooms obviously and connect at LAN speed. Use the same handle for DCS and the TS channel, so people can tell who you are.
Bushaman Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks. I will check out the 476th and get set up on Teamspeak. MTFDarkEagle Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 If you are looking for some fun and serious flying, have a look at the 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron. (link to website in my sig) We are both serious when we need to, but the banter never stops when the situation allows! :) (Yes we use teamspeak, link on the website) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Dejjvid Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 If you just wanna fly for fun join an STP server. TS details on their homepage. Google Spare Time Pilots. Very friendly people there. If you happen to be Swedish you can check Masterarms.se out. Steel Jaw Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 The 16th ACCW also recently announced they are moving from Falcon to DCSW as their primary mount. Probably a good move: IMHO the Falcon line is reaching the end of its useful life. roob Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I mostly just join a multiplayer server and fly "solo". It's more fun than playing with the AI and people in the DCS World is friendlier than a lot of other online games, so asking questions or trying to coordinate something isn't impossible. The hard part is to find a server that's not locked and have people on it... I usually end up playing on STP or Going Ugly :) My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
Bushaman Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 Anyone know any groups like STP that hosts smaller missions? Looking for a group that flys training and smaller team to practice attack coordination and formation. I find that the 104 server can be kinda be all over the place. Also, if anyone is looking for a wingman to do some missions, two to four a-10s only, let me know. When I'm off work, I fly most evenings with a couple of friends. We are low stress but try to fly reasonable realistically... Fakum Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Well, we can certainly hook up, I was generally using the SIMHQ team speak, and jumping in the Enos server, we could use that as common ground.
