Thanks for the tips Megagoth1702, in my squad has problem "connection interrupted" when we join more than 8 player.

 

I hope this tip help us.

 

Our server has a very good bandwith: 694.84 Mbps download, and 265.60 Mbps upload (the server is in spain). Right now I'm gonna configure the file with your advice.

 

If you want to test or anybody, I'll leave our server with no password, and with the dragon trainning missions today, and see what happend.

 

Server name: Escuadrón 69 dedicated server.

 

I hope you are right with this tip. :thumbup:

To keep your custom network setting between updates, you may write it directly to Saved Games\DCS\Config\network.cfg

As in:

connection = {
"My Custom Connection",
xxxxx, -- download speed in bytes/sec
zzzz, -- upload speed in bytes/sec
}

Can you give insight on the differences between "LAN" and "ADSL" modes for DCS? I mean the variables are there for a reason, right? :-/

 

@Excuador server: I won't be home today till late night. :-/ Can't test.

 

@Server owners: Try putting the server in ADSL mode with the proper connection data. Let's see how that works out.

Nope. Only the DL/UL speeds are meaningful, the name is, well, just a name.

Well, after two days of testing I can report that I still get the usual "Connection Interrupted". Can´t even remember the last time I actually landed after a mission in MP. :(

I have done some testings on our dedicated server about the loading time of a mission, and it doesn't seem to make any differences in that matter.

 

According to speedtest.net, it has about 152 Mbit/s down and 63 Mbit/s up

I've tested with Operation Bactria because it takes a very long time to load. I've measured the time that it would take me from clicking join in the server browser until the mission loading box disappeared and the banner screen with the loading bar came up.

 

But no matter what I've set the link types to, it always took me 2m36s +- 2s, uplink usage on the server was around 500 kbit/s

I've tried the following combinations:

Server: 150000kbit / 60000kbit; Client: LAN

Server: LAN; Client: LAN

Server: Modem; Client: LAN

Server: Modem; Client: Modem

That's weird man, when I used 256kbit limit (ADSL 1024 setting) I was sending the mission out with 50KB/s. Now with 1900kbit/s setting I am sending missions out with up to 150KB/s. :-/

I've tried this mod also. Have connection interrupted, but only when alt-tab. As for download mission time or less warp didn't note any improvement. My previous setting was LAN.

currently testing Megagoths network modification...

 

I have 9,67 Mbit DL and 9,50 UL speed...

 

So, i currently run my settings at "Jabos Net *9000 Kbits / 9000 Kbit* "

 

no troubles here so far, but no big improvements also, will keep investigating....

No, one Megabit is 1000 Kilobit (by the way, it's not 1024 kilobit like in popular belief) and 9 * 1000 = 9000 :)

Bytes? That explains the upper case "B".

My ADSL is a 13Mbps/0.8Mbps (→1.625MBps/100KBps) so I should add:

{ADSL.." TEST", 1500*kBit, 70*kBit},

Correct?

:( You could have said that earlier.

 

So I have 3800 kilobyte down and 250 kiloByte up, is this correct then? I converted the values to BYTES.

 

{ADSL.." Megas NET", 3984500*kBit, 250880*kBit},

 

But this seems weird. Yesterday I hosted a mission and had my settings at 1900*kBit and I was uploading the mission with over 100KB/s. If 1900 was BYTES it would have been only 1.9 KILOBYTE per second?

 

This does not make sense. I don't get it.

 

This would also mean that LAN would only allow 10kiloByte/s up and download and I have seen much faster speeds.

 

Please provide an example if possible.

Is it possible to use a packetsniffer like wireshark to see if the new settings are more suited for the connection that might give a higher stability in packetflow than one of the standard presets? Or some other program that could create graphics of the packetflow during a certain timeperiod.

i'm a little surprised everyone (server hosters) are finding out about this file for the first time...but does make me stop and think how accurate my settings are.

 

Until now i had simply bumped up the adsl settings by factor of 4, i.e.

(adsl.." blah", 4096*kBit , 1024*kBit)

 

My current modem connection is:

18471 Kbps, up 1571 Kbps

 

So should i be doing something more like:

(adsl.." blah", 18000*kBit , 1500*kBit)

 

?

The group I'm in did some testing tonight.

 

Bumping up net settings on the server was fine in all situations, but when we connected clients with high custom settings we had warps and crashes if the server also had an AI load on it. Our test mission incrementally loads AI units over time.

 

Our best results, of the net speed variations we tried, were when running our 8 internet clients on the adsl 1024 setting.

 

We had 1 additional client on the same network with the server.

Actually final value is interpreted as KB (Kilo Bytes) per second as defined here in line 4

 

local kBit = 1024/8

 

meaning 1024 bits (which is 1KiloBit) then divided by 8 to make it into KBytes

The wording of the unit is wrong local kBit should be called KBytes or just KB
