I don't know if it needs activating. Once BS2 installed, I don't think it matters if you activate before patching.... I agree that separate BS2 and BS2 upgrade is a waste of time and space. Also, ED now have to update BOTH modules whenever they patch. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

lokitexas
Its a simple process, and once installed its not like you have to do anything extra. Its far from difficult, or rocket science. Anyway, here is another post about it that explains it rather well. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98123 i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
winz
1)Install BS1 2)Activate BS1 3)Install BS2 (to a different folder OFC), or download and install DCS World and install the BS2 upgrade module. Done both, no problem at all. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC
Daniel M
What a tremendous waste of valuable resources this "upgrade" path is for everyone and the developers who insist on enforcing this useless method. Agreed, but I think they have mentioned its an issue with "starforce" or whatever it's called. Not so much in Ed/DCS hands.IIRC
dburne
Or alternatively do like I did, even though I own the original Black Shark, I purchased the full version Black Shark 2, just so I would not have to mess with having to go through the upgrade process. I figure it helps support ED as well. Blarney
Winz has the process right. I have the same install. All the upgrade module does differently than the full version is check for an existing BS1 Serial Number in the registry. 486DX w/turbo button
