Don't forget the 104th, we are successfully hosting 1.2.2.7570 so if you wish to fly with us you'll need to revert back up to this version (rolling back and forward on versions is harmless so its all good)

 

Yes, of course. The 104th is still hosting on 7570 ok, but clients connecting are still having the preload cache appcrash. It's just that there are more sim pilots in the US that connect during US times and so the effect is less felt. 74th is UK and EU, we feel it, along with other not smaller, but less 'established' as the 104th (which to be frank, having been a SL of the 104th, i wouldn't say the 74th is less established, far from it - but 'picky' - sure) Updating to the latest build is easy as Mustang has said, just add 'update' after the command line in the Target field of the DCS World Shortcut, or use the Autoupdater.

 

P.S on the bugfixing side of things, as i mentioned in an earlier post this problem has been isolated and ED is working hard to get it to you all in a future update.

In the meantime, right click the DCS World shortcut on the desktop, in the target box and after the " give a sapce and type update 1.2.2.7286

 

save and execute.

 

now go fly and enjoy on LYNX, STP servers and a fair few others out there whilst we wait for ED 'Dev's' to answer here, issue a hotfix or combine in the next patch.

 

as ever, we wait patiently. sortof. ;-)

 

 

I have v. 1.2.2.7570 and night before I flew to the STP server an 1-2 hours without any problems with occasional stuttering when connected a new player or if someone crashes to the ground. When the number of players has increased these delays have increased, so I went from server, but the server is OK with good ping.

Last night we had 16 players for 2 hours on LYNX. Ironically on 7570.

 

This morning, 5 of us could not get on it. I had to reboot LYNX and even then only 2 of the 5 could get on without the app crash.

 

Thats the exact point mate. The ambiguous situation with 7570 is difficult to manage, hence the rollback.

Mustang has already confirmed that the matter is being attended to. There is no reason for a developer to post in this thread acknowledging an issue that we have already confirmed as being acknowledged by the Devs. Us testers are the interface between the forum and the developers, thus saving them time, said time being better spent on troubleshooting the latest build in order to ensure that the issue gets resolved as soon as reasonably possible.

wouldnt turning down the pre-cache in options help?

I think the idea skate is that the servers pre-cache as much information as possible to make it more available to the clients... but if what you're saying is the clients should reduce their precache to shorten their load times- for those of you with locked servers telling your people to do that would likely work as well...

 

I don't have that luxury so I'm trying to run the server with everything maxed out in hopes that helps.

 

A few things I'm trying:

Thanks Viper, but respectfully i dont accept that at all.

 

A Dev can make a post, and has done regarding other issues.

 

Not wanting a forum bitchfight over a menial matter, i agree to disagree.

Okay... other than a server rollback- can ANYONE explain why it is that suddenly I can't even connect to my own server over LAN?

 

Or is that just one of the bugs we're dealing with on 7570? It's odd because everyone else had no problems connecting and now I can't. Or were you saying the same thing about Lynx earlier which was what caused a rollback?

it may be because you're behind a router DHCP IP and the Server is on DMZ on the same router and hard line,

 

The DHCP in the router and DMZ Share the Same Host IP. So Port wise, you're trying to connect to yourself, when the server sends a reply to your PC, the router doesnt forward the ports to your PC, it just goes right to the sever, so it's sending the packets back to itself while your PC on the other side of the DHCP times out.

 

- try connecting from different network/IP.

- try turning off DMZ to see if youre connection block goes away.

 

but im pretty sure thats the problem

Okay, I'll test that theory... brb.

 

Disabled the DMZ and ensured I still had ports open to that comp (10308) and still errors out.

 

I'm going the way of Tyger at this moment... frick this is frustrating.

 

 

Edit: Whoops... let me try that again...

Edit again: Nope... no joy.

 

Okay so with that further explanation if I go to my other connected router with my client- will that work? I have a router connected to the main to preserve the config I had before and because its n. so will that work around my main router being in dmz?

 

Only issue is I disabled dmz and tried it again and still crashed. Sigh

what does DCS and Router logs say? can you ping your server from your client and get a reply?

well, now I cant seem to join any server, DCS.EXE Application Crash everytime. Nothing has changed on my system in two days.

Yeah- looked like people just abandonned trying my server. I've been out until now. I think a backup went up. Not sure wtf is wrong with it all of a sudden- I'm mean it's dmz'd so it's not like it's stopping people from connecting.

 

Anyway, I guess now as tyger says "we wait."

 

Okay stang, I have to ask- what are you guys doing differently than what we're trying? Is it just the mission selection? Is it your server settings? Is it some modified files?

Both Your's and The Backup,

 

loads the ground objects, and fills loading bar once,

 

then zips through the 2nd time, then map loads, pause icon blinks, and APP Crash comes up.

 

returns me to DCSW Main menu.

 

 

 

When I was able to connect to STP.

 

the Loading bar went across normal speed (longer loading time.). Pause ICON was not blinking.

well I joined the Backup Server and flew around, then after abotu 20 minutes i got teh boot and couldnt come back in.

They're not.

 

The 104th server is an open server, always has been, that you can fly on with no need to jump on TS. The missions, whilst fun, are hardly complex, as the emphasis is on A2A engagements with each other. You will always get a reliable mission that has just 'slots' and a few benign triggers. Other missions are more complex with complex scripting, triggers, elements, tankers, JTACS, and other immersive elements. Ironically, nothing more complex than the sim is 'supposed' to be able to do.

 

In short, have an empty map with just slots, and there isn't a problem. We've tested that theory. This is not a slam dunk 104th post, I have some good friends over there and used to be a SL and CFI before starting the 74th. But, be bloody realistic here. They are not doing anything different than anyone else with any of their missions, nor are they storing away the answer to reliable hosting, except numbers and the relevant ratio of successfull connections in 7570, and THAT fact is important.

I know Tyger. Just beating my head against a wall- want to make sure I try everything and unfortunately I think I have... except to wait for the fix and a roll back.
