Recommended Posts

Just got the Mustang last week and am having a ball learning it. Any newbies interested in joining my server for training, missions, dogfighting etc. just leave me a message. The server is up most days. Teamspeak is the only requirement. The TS address is clearly posted on the DCS server.

Please see this post for more information on my server.

Jcomm, you can d/l teamspeak for free here:http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Get the Teamspeak 3 client and you'll be all set. Provided you have a headset with a mic, of course.

I wouldn't put your email like that. Add some extra letters in a different colour and then just put ignore those ones at the bottom of your post. E.g,

ainvisiadwbullf22@hotmail.com

Ignore the red.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Invisibull and I have been running together on this for a bit along with Bushaman, we started this with the A-10 and switched to the P-51 at this time. This venture was based on getting some good flying lessons in Multiplayer with those willing to train. It also was a means to find those players that were in the same time zone that could get together around the same times in the evenings. We happen to be a United States, East Coast group, but that is not a requirement. Invisabull has put alot of time and effort into helping me out, especially with the P-51 now. I really suck, but with his help, I am certainly improving, making mistakes and taking lessons from them. His help is appreciated, and well worth taking advantage of. He is very knowledgable and it really is helping me to get a grip around handling this Mustang,,,, its not the A-10, this puppy you have to fly and its a challenge, but it certainly provides a real sence of flight compared to the A-10,,,, look forward to seeing any newcommers. Other than Teamspeak being a requirement, we are only intersted in respectfull, well behaved, players. Enjoy

Fakum (with cheese), your modesty is astounding. You must not be from NYC. :) And thanks for your excessively kind and undeserved words my friend.

Those who have contacted me should check out the Teamspeak server i've directed them to at around 1800 on weekdays to see if we're there. The DCS server will be called "Ponyland."

Im not the Author of this thread, but I do respect the sanctity of it. Im sure you guys are not deliberatly trying to hijack his thread by solicting your own services, but it does seem luring does it not? The guy was just trying to get his own gig going, thats all. Thanks for understanding, at least thats my perspective. Happy flying guys

Greetings, fellas. New guy here. Been "flying" the P-51 since PCs first came to be (Chuck Yeager's AFT anyone?) and have witnessed all the multitudes of changes in simulator evolution along the way. I spent many hours in IL-2 and despite its age it has a special place in my heart. Since, I have come and gone in cycles and always hoped I'd see a truly realistic interpretation of flight. When Rise of Flight released I was definitely impressed but despite my love for the early days of combat aviation, no time period excites me like the era of WW2 aircraft. So you can imagine my reaction when I discovered DCS and learned of its ambitious efforts. (Kudos all around, I'm so tired of the trend where everything is arcade "simulation") I couldn't help myself and picked up the a-10 & p-51 aircraft. Both have been amazing in their own right and I have been spending equal time working working towards mastery on each. Personally, I work in the military aviation field and have dabbled in private piloting here and there. (It can a bit too pricey and time consuming as a hobby for some of us) Lately, I have been singing the praises of DCS to everyone I know to spark some interest, as the multiplayer element is where a simulation of this caliber really shines. However, finding others to invest the time and dedication to the craft is less than easy. SO I decided to go ahead and register on the forums as I have been stalking them for a while gleaning knowledge from a distance. -Matt

Welcome Matt...

My walk accross the world of flight simulation is comparable to yours, and, just like you, I feel amazed at the level of accuracy / quality achieved with DCS World, the p51d, but also the a10c and the BS2, and looking fwd for the UH1 :-)

I also look fwd to be able to start flying online using the public, or a private server, following the idea of the OT!

Thanks and yes, my original point was that I was happy to find there was a community specifically for the DCS P-51D and I hope to join in the fun. As of late I had created a solo custom mission in a scramble setting where myself and an AI wingman fire up on the ramp and get airborne as incoming P-51 bogeys approach the airfield. At staggered times more aircraft enter the fray. It's pretty dicey with the AI enemy being completely unforgiving and bloodthirsty but of course it makes you bring your A-game.

Oh and I share your sentiments towards the Huey. I'm actually friends with several active UH-1 pilots and I may have to get them to critique what I'm sure will be another amazing addition to the DCS World tarmac.

  • 3 weeks later...

Im still getting a grip on all this myself,,, doesnt hurt to come in and see how you compare to others,,, I have a long way to go myself,, but I am noticing some improvement. How are your take offs and landings with no takeoff assistance in the checkbox, and the slider all the way to the right? I found that to be probably one of the most important things to get through 1st.
