I just landed a SU-33 on the carl vinson and i don't know why but suddenly i found myself inside the carrier and shortly after i "crashed" in the water.. did i land too hard on the deck?? cos as far as i know a carrier deck and landing gear of a carrier-based aircraft are made to withstand serious punishment :p

same with Su25T on Kuznetsov. Just spawns inside carrier.

 

i didn't spawn on the carrier.. just to be clear.. i landed it on the carl vinson.. but when i touched the deck.. i fell through it..

the Su33 Data is set to land on Carrier With Ramp, not Carrier With Catapult.

the ramp doesn't do much while landing now does it...:smilewink:

no, But the Kunetsov Carrier is Set as a "CARRIER WITH RAMP", for it's wsTYPE.

The SU-33 Data is setting the SU-33 as only Landing on that RUNWAY TYPE.

 

As the F-18 Can Land on the Vinson Fine, but fly right through the Kunetsov like it wasnt even there.

SU25T is NOT a Carrier Capable Aircraft.

 

IF you wanted to TakeOff or land on the Kunetsov You'd have to add the Systems and Runway Types to the Data LUA of the SU-25T.

SU25T is NOT a Carrier Capable Aircraft.

 

IF you wanted to TakeOff or land on the Kunetsov You'd have to add the Systems and Runway Types to the Data LUA of the SU-25T.

You realise USAF Jets have tail hooks too right? to aid in landing on short airfields or to aid in stopping the jet if the brakes are InOP.

 

 

the only Frogfoot that's capable of Carrier ops is the SU-25TG, which is not in DCS.

thats the Su-25UTG, but that model you saw came from Flanker2 and had tailhook: very old Su-39.cmd model :)

Yeah but it was a mistake, so it was removed from the new model :) .

This is a bug i encountered too. It has nothing to do with the aircraft that's attempting to land.

I was trying to land F-15 on carrier, and successfully done so, apart from the lack of tailhook, which meant it kept going and took off again. But once, it acted like it snatched the cables and stopped, but it went inside the ship at sea level.

yep :) but the mistake was not to name as Su-25UTG in Flanker2 and calling it Su-39 without folding wings and doubled canopy

 

i need a nice Su-25UTG in DCSW :D

 

Another bug: aircrafts not moving with flight deck by pitch and roll sea states depending on windy weather :cry:

Why... The UTG is a trainer with no weapon systems installed.

Well for training carrier trapping I guess :) .

 

The AFM would make that quite interesting and as such the Su-25UTG would IMHO have been a more interesting third "Frogfoot" than the Su-25TM.

 

However, the Su-25UTG has uprated landing gear in order to take the strain of carrier landings, so in addition to 3D model and player hook control, the AFM would also have to be modified.

Couldn't see any other mentions of carrier-bugs so I'll add this here;

 

During MP 159th GAR squad-flights, we've become aware of problems with shipping, in particular the Admrl Kuznetsov.

 

There appears to be some some of map/in game positioning error and the AK's map symbol flickers (as do other ships in game). I'm told by our Su-33 drivers that on approach the HUD doesn't accord properly with where the AK is -meaning traps cannot be done using ILS approaches.

 

Also, there are numerous problems with the deck when on board -sinking, exploding and the like.

 

One other ship problem we've seen is that the damage models of some or maybe all ships is not consistent. Many low-angle attacks on shipping result in nothing more than a water-spout but no damage. Yet a high-angle attack will result in damage to that ship (with the same weapon). It seems that the damage-model doesn't recognize some hits but does others.

 

All this means that current shipping-ops are not feasible without these things getting fixed.
