No Ice. This thread is about the mission builder's fear of including AWACS/EWR in on-line maps.

F-15 pilots would have to work little harder in that case! And we could all fly Su-27 again.

And if I don't use jammer when in Eagle's firing range, I will get smacked by a silent TWS shot. What do u suggest?

I would suggest that you keep your jammer off and realize that a HoJ shot is MUCH more silent than a TWS shot. Specifically with TWS you get twice the warning time.

GG is strobing you ECM of any use? i.e. switching you ECM on and off every second or 2. I have done this anytime I have thought a F-15 is in the area for a TWS shot and have never been downed. Has this contributed or have I just been lucky?

Yes, that's fine, but it won't save you from a shot in burn-through range (25km). it will deny long range launches though.

As I've understood it, the HOJ mode is selected automatically, but if you could set it to regular homing, wouldn't it disregard that the jamming is turned on and off?

Seems a bit strange that switching ECM on and off could be a foolproof (outside the burnthrough and heater range) method of not getting hit.

It's reliable because it breaks lock and also causes the missile to switch lead/pure courses.

So, something like that would really work in realitiy? I find that hard to believe.

In reality you'd be using more than one jamming method, in more than one way, which may decrease or increase the Pk of the incoming missile.

Wait for the WAFM ... vikhrs will isntatly lose their AA Pk once the g limitations are restored, and R77's launched from teh slow froggies, probably going -up- will likely not reach anything ;)

I will embrace the WAFM with open arms. It will make the air kills taste even sweeter. :D

Evolve and adapt.

Indeed!

I saw you take out an A-10 and I wanted to ask him ... 'wtf were you looking at?' since you were practically right in front of him and he didn't even move!

Why don't you just fly with labels on? The incorrect implementation of AWACS is the same thing.

But I don't get any launch warning sound when being fired at in TWS??

Or am I suppose to assume the bandit fired at me at some point and start doing my evasive manouvers in a timely manner?

You don't get launch warning on HoJ either, and the missile's seeker locks onto you much closer than with TWS, so you get muhc less time to react.

Do what you want with this knowledge ;)

Ok now im confused....

Force_feedback found this in the Su-27sk manual

I found the datalink-section!

As explained before, the datalink can work in the following modes:

-In a single airgroup, linking all the members together, on initiative of the flight leader.

So an SU-27 airgroup can share information from Another SU airgroup ?

-In a combined flight (of multiple groups), by the commanding officer.

Multiple groups can share informaton with other group ??

something like a CAP group can share information they receave with an a strike group behind then ??

The use of data-link available on Su-27S would level the technological playing field between the F-15 and Flanker in Lock On! I was on line during the past weekend and most of what I saw was ARH missiles and tail turning tactic on F-15 and MiG-29S!

It is the F-15 pilots that have most to fear from including AWACS/GCI in on line missions! I would challenge them to prove the point (if they agree with that point) that it is about the pilot, not about the technology! Well, many virtual pilots argued on this thread that it is just fine for Su-27S to fly around with SARH missiles! Yet, as soon as AWACS/GCI was mentioned, they said, “well it would be too easy for Flanker to achieve a kill”? Make up your mind fellas … :)

I was watching the server status. You were shot down by an F-15 with an AIM-7M whiel flying a MiG-29S. You're grasping for straws ;)
