Cockpit View, help please.

Decided to get back into this thing but I can't figure out how to change the view in the cockpit from the default and some what odd perspective. This is difficult to explain but the default view makes things seem far away. For instance if you turn around and look at the seat it looks like its two feet away from your head, not a few inches like it should be. Sure you can zoom in but then you can see anything else. I know there is a key or combination to fix this and make the view more normal but for the life of me I cant remember what it is.

 

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about and how to change to the better view? Also, I'm not using a trackIR at the moment. Thanks for the help.

If you are talking about the view after it zooms out at mission start, just hit the 'KP-Enter' key at it will reset to normal zoom. Otherwise it sounds like you want a mod.

No it isn't a mod, I was doing this when A-10 first came out. And what is "KP-Enter"?

KP-Enter is the 'Enter' key on the keypad portion on the right side of the keyboard.

 

 

 

EDIT: You also never answered the question of whether the view you did not like was after the initial zoom out at mission start.

My apologies. I thought KP was common shorthand for KeyPad. :huh:

It's cool. I think making more use of shortcuts is somewhat more embedded in the american society isn't it.

Alot of TV and radio broadcast stationnames as well as many organisations use shortcuts in everything. It's not a big deal, but less common outside of the states. Sometimes i realy have to keep up with US gamefriends on what they're talking about. For them it's second nature. :wacko: :D

That's especially true in the US military. They have shotcuts for about everything.

It's very confusing when trying to learn how to fly the Warthog.

Actually, I picked it up from the USB/HID key definitions file that I use with my Target profiles which, according to the file header/comment, apparently originated at Apple. ;)

So, no one is gonna help here? I do not like the view that it gives you standard upon entering the cockpit... There is a certain key combination that gets rid of the strange distance in the standard cockpit view and makes it look more like you are closer to everything. This is not zoom in or out but a new view mode itself. I have tried every godamn thing I can think of and nothing is working. I know this command exists because I used it before. Does no one see what I am saying at all? The standard view is just plain weird and there is a way to correct it... someone must know what I'm talking about.

No one helps?? One page of help already and even damned god along the side plus when youŕe looking for a shortcut it should be somewhere inside the buttonassignments. Itś a 30 second scrolI through the list. I guess you must have missed the page...

did you try hitting the keypad enter-key, as was suggested? the game is zoomed quite far out by default, which will give weird aspects. resetting zoom fixes it

There is no listing of this command that I can find... Believe me I looked. And the only advice I got was key pad enter or get a mod. Can I just ask a question? No one know wtf I am talking about? When you are in the default cockpit view mode everything is far away, turn you head and you will notice the ejection seat looks like you are sitting forward in it like two feet. There is a certain key combo that gets rid of this type of view and makes it much more natural. When you look around everything looks closer like it should, the seat looks like your head is resting on it. Its unplayable with the stock damn view... I'm about ready to just call it quits and fire up Falcon again.

Perhaps that is best since as you say, you have tried all of the possible key combinations!

 

 

Oh, BTW, no we, or at least, I have no idea what you want the view to look like if zooming in is not going to get you closer in the way that you desire.

Press keypad enter and turn your head...the friggin seat IS A MILE AWAY STILL! You see what I'm saying here? Zoom in so the seat is close, now you turn back around and the panel is in your grill. Zoom out and everything looks far away... There is a way to make this shite go away and all I need is the right key combo... I'm not mad anyone here but I am getting frustrated with this to the point of quitting if I can get this view thing sorted. The worst part is I KNOW FOR A FACT IT EXISTS IN THE STOCK GAME, I just cant remember how to do it. For the love all that is holy there must be someone who knows...

Just should have at least a look at the Readme - and the remarks about changing the default cockpit view via snap-view saving.

 

It's your choice - start reading what others tell you or cry out loud and go back to falcon.

The view I'm talking about lets you adjust so you can see the mirrors and everything without making the cockpit look like its microscopic, and when you adjust the zoom your head stays against the seat and everything moves with you so you dont get that weird mile away look. I dunno, I'll play with it more tomorrow, I have to sleep. I read your post Peter... I assure you what I am looking for is nothing so complicated.

Try "Left Windows and F1" the natural Headmovment.

The solution to your problem J.Heller is what PeterP solution gave. It's easy to implement in your installation. Just download and then copy, paste and your head view goes where natural should be. Try it please, if you don't like it you can go back to original settings view.:smilewink:

Customising the Default View

Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default.

Adjust your view to what you want as the new default but do not use any snap view keys in the process!

Press RALT+Num0 - your new default view should now be saved.

Test it by changing your view, then pressing Num5 - your view should return to your customised default!

I think what you're looking for is RCtrl + RShift + NumPad / or * to move the cockpit camera forward or aft.

The problem is the outer parts of the HUD will be hidden by the frame.
