doebro2010 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I would like to buy the P51 but have a question first. installing dcs and looking to the free aircraft su25 it turns out that the movements of the cockpitt were very limited. There was in vc no 6...? present. If I buy the P51 is there a VC movement present? I have no track software only the keyboard to change.
BadWeather Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 There is six degrees of freedom currently in a-10, p-51, ka-50 and the f-15 in flaming cliffs 3. There are other pits that are planned too.
doebro2010 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 so in fact, it is the same then as it was with the su25 free plane? if so then i will not buy because i have 3 sceens and the movements of the VC cockpit are very limited then.
Mustang Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Until we get proper 6DOF pits we can edit the files for the pits we have now, see this post and attachment http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1615478&postcount=15

No.... The P-51D is a full 6DOF pit. Look up some youtube videos to see what that means. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
doebro2010 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 I have seen them but I thought it was due to the track IR which most people has. But I dont have it yet. So if I understand now there is a difference in cockpit view between su25 standard and the P51. Is that correct?
Irregular programming Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 6dof only means that you can move your head in six degrees instead of four, you still need a head tracking device or controller to do it.
Jona33 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 6dof only means that you can move your head in six degrees instead of four, you still need a head tracking device or controller to do it. Incorrect. RSHIFT+Numpad keys does it. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
doebro2010 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 but is it still right that p51 has more cockpit view back and forth then the present su25t?
Nate--IRL-- Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 but is it still right that p51 has more cockpit view back and forth then the present su25t? Yes you can see your aircraft tail by turing your head around. There is no restriction. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
doebro2010 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 thank you I will buy now the P51 there is however another problem perhaps you know someone who could help out I struggle with my G940 logitech to get the buttons working. They work in fsx and also in xplane10 but not in DCS any idea where to go?
BRooDJeRo Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) DCS has far more functions than Xplane and FSX, does recognise your hardware, but does not realy know how to configure it. Best is to delete the deviceconfig of your stick in DCS, keep the keyboard config and make your own config in the stick software. Keep X, Y, rudder in DCS and use the finetuning in DCS too. Don't double config functions in your stick software and DCS. In terms of settings DCS makes games like Xplane or FSX look like childsplay. Edited February 27, 2013 by BRooDJeRo
TulsA-10 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 DCS makes games like Xplane or FSX look like childsplay. You bet your ass! I have to be a hater for a moment..lol FXS and Xplane vrs DCS is like comparing pc gamers and simmers to console gamers. Console gamers have a wimpy controller with a few inputs while pc simmers have a keyboard and custom build controllers with a million different configurations. tietze Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 any idea where to go? Yup, depending on which aircraft you are configuring open DCS World, go into the Options the page and then the CONTORLS tab. In the upper left corner there is a text "Layers" and a drop down menu where you can select between different aircrafts and game modes for example for P-51D there will be both a game and simulation mode as far as I remember. To configure buttons and keys you can just go ahead (use the buttons at the bottom and choose the correct line and column in the schema). It can be a good idea to clear category for your controller, because DCS usually has some strange default configurations for controls Please be sure not to choose clear category for the keyboard! To configure your joystick axes choose Axes Commands from the second drop down menu at the top or press the "Axis assign" button at the bottom. Not to be rude, but check out the manual for the DCS user interface: Start->Programs-> DCS World->Documentation->User Manual. Page 18 is for configuring controllers. I dont know anymore which one was it in the keyboard. could you let me know? thanks for the help anyway.
Irregular programming Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I think there is a button to reset the keymapper to original configuration IIRC. Incorrect. RSHIFT+Numpad keys does it. as I said to quote myself "or controller" :joystick:
doebro2010 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 i dont want to reset, I only want the specific one for dpad
TheKhann Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 ^ Set your controls back to default, see which one it was and then redo them.
