Well, I think I can say with confidence that the next DCS aircraft will be the UH-1H. After that, the crystal ball is too cloudy.

Jajaja...thanks Wags....very clear.

I did some searching around the forums and can't find anything about how highly detailed the Huey is going to be modeled. Has anybody heard if we're looking at FC fidelity or KA-50 level?

I'm assuming that the features haven't changed since this article, if so that means KA-50 level detail.

I just hope it will be less secretive and more PR stuff released ;)

I just hope these titles are developed wholly internally, without any sort of outsourcing no matter how compelling, persuasive or convenient that may seem. If you need something done ... cry.gif

A DCS: F-15C with AFM and avionics on par with the other DCS modules... generally that would be considered an upgrade. The FC F-15 hasn't changed much aside from the new cockpit and 3d model from FC1 to FC3.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

DCS F-15C would be a huge step up from the fc3 version. AFM, depth of systems would be much deeper, clickable cockpits, training missions, definitely worth it.

Ummm I guess.. but really why didnt they just do this with FC3, I mean clearly it is obtainable if they are producing a module of it. But I guess its not good business to bring up FC3 on par with the rest of DCS? I just hope they nail it. Im sure they will. Looking forward to the 18 and the third party developers products as well. Some of those a/c on that list has me licking my chops. And the fact that DCS is finally going to make my sim look good when Im in the heli becuase the one thing that turns me off from DCS is just how utter shit the ground looks when you are in a tank or the BS.

This thread subject is like ground hog day.

If it wasn't for impatience and groundless speculation this place would actually get kinda quiet.

Ummm I guess.. but really why didnt they just do this with FC3, I mean clearly it is obtainable if they are producing a module of it.

Creating just a single DCS-level simulation is a lot more work than doing the complete FC3.

Things in the FC3 F-15C that carry over to a DCS module:

- Part of the cockpit.

- Exterior model.

Things that do not carry over (because in FC3, they really don't exist... because it's a survey level simulator):

- Flight model

- Engine model

- Avionics model

- Radar model

- Hydraulics model

- Electrics model

- Associated damage modeling

- and some more bits and pieces.

Basically, FC3 has the "easy" bits. Just getting a specification for a DCS model is a huge amount of work, and that's before you even start implementing it. Study-level simulations is not something you "just do". Quite the opposite.

"Obtainable" does not mean the same as "makes economic sense"; doing that kind of stuff for FC3 would basically mean the price for FC3 has to go up with just as much as the DCS module would cost anyhow... So FC3 would basically cost something like $110 rather than $50.

Unless you want ED to make a loss on the product. Making a loss on such a big project is a good way to find yourself filing for bankruptcy.
