metro97 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Hello Community, I'm planning to buy this awesome game. I have already seen a lot videos on YouTube but never really played it myself. I wanted to buy it from Steam first, but it's cheaper when I buy it directly from DCS. Is there any difference there? Can I redownload my copy if I have to resetup my computer etc.? I'd like to buy the English version, but I'm actually from Germany. Is that possible? Are there any special informations I should look for? I wanted to buy the Thrustmaster Joystick, but not sure right now because of the customer reviews. Are there any Joysticks you could recommended to me? Thanks a lot!

A joystick is a must... with lots of buttons and hats and a head tracking device. with the latest 1.2.3. patch you will need to download DCS: World then the respected module, in this case the A-10C module, hope this helps.. Edited March 16, 2013 by joey45 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. acino Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Joystick - either Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS or Saitek x52pro, depending on your budget. You should also consider getting a TrackIr 4/5. You can download any version you want, the serial will work with any of the language localizations.
cichlidfan Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I wanted to buy the Thrustmaster Joystick, but not sure right now because of the customer reviews. What wrong with the reviews of the Thrustmaster? I am assuming you mean the Warthog, of which there are quite a lot of owners here on the forum. Mortifa Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Worth it! This game is really enjoyable, the more time I spend on it the more I learn, which makes me realize how much more I have to learn. Awesome simulation. Fate is inexorable...

Irregular programming Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Even if you buy it on steam you want to download it from ED, the steam version hasn't been updated to the newest version and probably never will.
metro97 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks a lot for all your replies! I'm going to buy it from the DCS website directly then. I don't have a big budget because I'm not even 18 years old and don't have a job, but I gonna save some money. I just wanted to ask if you can change both speeds, of the left and right engine with the throttle because I see only one on the Saitek joystick. And are the multiplayer servers still up with active players? I'd enjoy it to play with or against some other pilots :P Greets

159th_Falcon Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Given your on a Budget, buy an X52 or the X52Pro, the latter is a bit more accurate. But the normal one is just fine. Then go ahead and download DCS World for free from here. Then i would recommend flying the free SU-25T around for a bit, and explore the online community. After that, its your choice, either buy Track IR 4/5. Or buy an module of your choice. What TrackIR is? It allows you to move your ingame camera viewpoint by physically moving your head around. The following video explains it better; ***IMPORTNAT*** When downloading module for DCS world, make sure your downloading the right files and not the seperate module. Easy way to tell, if the file size is a couple of Gigabytes you got the wrong one. If its a couple hundred, you got the module that plugs in to DCS World. (just had a quick look, seems like all stand-alone downloads are now moved under the "previous versions" section of the downloads.) ***EDIT*** Forgot to mention, the SU-25T is free to fly ONLINE to. So go ahead, download DCS World (you will need that anyways) and have a look at the server list. (make an account on http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/auth.php?register=yes in order to log in to the online masterserver) Edited March 17, 2013 by 159th_Falcon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Calculon Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I'm fairly new to flight sims and DCS myself. I got the CH products ( pedals, fighter stick pro and throttle) plus trackir5 and have loved it so far. I worried about making such a huge investment without knowing I would enjoy it, however I love the CH products software and hardware but I don't have a lot of experience with other products however ( so can't compare for you). I found new CH products items for very good prices on eBay. No issues yet. I can't imagine playing DCS A-10c without the gear I have.
metro97 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks a lot to all again! Really appreciate all of your help. Given your on a Budget, buy an X52 or the X52Pro, the latter is a bit more accurate. But the normal one is just fine. I'll start with an X52Pro then, are there all buttons which I need on it? So that I don't have to use the Joystick + Keyboard for shooting etc. Thanks

(No need for saitek profiling or anything, it's all set up in game.) Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

metro97 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Yes you can do that. It's fairly simple. Very nice. I propably gonna buy this one. Do you know if there is a tutorial where you can train JTAC missions? Where the JTAC is for example pointing with a laser onto a target and you have to kill it? Never seen such a video on YT but would pretty miss it. Buying A-10C on Friday also....:music_whistling: Cool! :) Edited March 17, 2013 by metro97
metro97 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) I have a problem, if I start the campaign of the SU-25 it automatically go up so like someone is keeping pressing the "8" button on the NumPad. I installed TrackIr once before, does anyone know what the problem is? Right now there's no camera connected FIXED by removing the VJOY Virtual Joystick driver from HDD. I uninstalled the program but the driver was still there. Edited March 18, 2013 by metro97
