Eddie Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 No need to convince me, I'd take a Viper over a Hornet any day. But the fact remains , the Hornet is no slouch all things considered.
smnwrx Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I for one am lookin froward to multiple stops at the tanker before returning to the boat to break up the monotony of ingress/egress.
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I for one am lookin froward to multiple stops at the tanker before returning to the boat to break up the monotony of ingress/egress. Indeed. Maybe we can simulate the missions the boys flew over and near Libya (something like the Tornado 8-hour 3000mi SEAD sortie, 3 refuelings on the way in, 1 out) :D Should be twice as much fun with some capable GAI ready to play chase :music_whistling:
pii Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 My only problems with the F-18 series is the short range and poor acceleration so I don't think I will get this module unless someone convinces me otherwise. 1. Air to Air refueling = unlimited range 2. Most missions I've played in DCS world haven't' exactly been long haul flights. The f18 could easily fly them on half a fuel load 3. I think its will be a great addition to DCS and will buy it ASAP when it comes out. 4. That's my opinion which, I'm sure, means zip to you:smilewink:

Eddie Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I for one am lookin froward to multiple stops at the tanker before returning to the boat to break up the monotony of ingress/egress. Just how "short ranged" do you guys think the Hornet is? Even the C model carries more fuel than the Viper (~7100lbs for the Viper, ~11000lbs for the Hornet). And they both have the same 300 NM combat radius (depending on missile profile obviously) as the A-10C. And given that flying a mission with a 300NM radius requires flying from Anapa to a target near Tblisi on the current map (and not in a straight line either) I don't think we'll be having fuel issues for a while. The only way you can fly missions that even require IFR at the moment is by having long loiter times, and that won't change with a Hornet, or Eagle. The fighters will have shorter loiter times than the Hog of course, but you'll still have plenty of fuel for any kind of realistic mission profile, especially when you add drop tanks.
GodsPrototype Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 I've got some semi good news. I'm not sure if any of you have seen the May 3rd update, but it mentioned this "Work will also accelerate on development of DCS: F-15C and DCS: Su-27. I hope to talk more about those next week." I am extremely exited to hear about the F-15C again, since that is an aircraft I am definitly looking forward to, however, I would have liked to see a mention of the F/A-18C, because I would rather have the Hornet now. I think the quote above is an indication of what aircraft will be released the earliest. Therefore, the F-15C will be released prior to the F/A-18C, is what I am assuming. Good news for the DCS community, though. I am exited! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Does anyone know if the Su-27SM can do SEAD? I know it's LGB capable but if it does SEAD I'm fine for a couple years :D
