FourBagz Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 All, I've recently started playing the game and am having quite a bit of fun. As a sort of pipe dream of mine I develop mobile apps in my spare time when I'm not at my day job in hopes of one day quitting it and doing mobile apps full time. I did consider, since I am enjoying the game so much, developing something for the game however I wasn't sure if: (a) It'd be worth it (how many people actually own DCS A10?) (b) Considering there's already a sticky with iWarthog if there's even room for another app in the mix (is there anything that iWarthog doesn't do that another app could build for you)? I'd probably run an ad banner or something inside the app. I actually started building a quick/simple Warthog keyboard commands list (basically a list of all default keyboard mappings since I tend to keep looking at it) just as a test to see if I should go deeper (if there are enough downloads of the app) or just pull out and stop. But then I thought, well, I could just put up a post here to ask everyone how they felt about this. All comments appreciated, thank you. FYI, it'd be made for both iOS and Android.
ptako Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 All, I'd probably run an ad banner or something inside the app. I don't think that we need ads in cockpit during flights. It would be annoying. And about application itself - it depends on it's functionality. There is always something to add to make using of DCS World easier / more effective/ more fun. Tell us more about what you're going to implement and you will get some feedback for sure. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] -- "The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good shit. Harzach Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 There's also DCS Manager, so it is getting a little crowded already. Maybe something that isn't a kneeboard app?
wess24m Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I target pod view of both enemy and friendly (for when you're playing red side) vehicles and aircraft. Anything for the blackshark. I read awhile back that somebody was making an interactive app, say you have an engine out it would popup with engine out procedures (even though we should know these front and back). A movable and zoomable map, with frequencies (both comms and nav). A practical way to export your TGP/shkall to an ipad. A way to pre-program your CDU. I've yet to see an app for DCS with any of those features.
zaelu Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 we need an app like touch pilot one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.touchpilot.android.one&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC50b3VjaHBpbG90LmFuZHJvaWQub25lIl0. that will do on android what touch pilot http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80303&highlight=Touch+Pilot and Icontrol http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70489&highlight=ipad+touch does on IOS adds and no adds (payware). hawk2495 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I would love to have an android app that does what tp does. Especially if I can get it to emulate the CDU. It's one of the few things I don't have set up very well. Why is the rum always gone!?!?!?!

Kaiza Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Not strictly a-10c related, but how about a radio stack GUI that is integrated with FC3 and combined arms for TARS. That would be ultimate. mr_mojo97 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 +1 for Cukier. There are some encyclopedias out there but no where near comprehensive - especially for sam sites etc rather than planes (and real photos if poss although DCS modelled ones would be fine). O and please don't put advert banners in it, they really are just an annoyance (anyways) but in sims like this even worse MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
ericoh Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 A Android version of iControl would be so awesome... not everybody wants to spend a fortune on an apple product only to use it as a mfd :D 1

lanmancz Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) Some icontrol app for android would be nice. I'm actually trying to figure out how to use my nexus 7 for that purpose. Nothing seems very good though. What are you guys using on your android devices to control dcs (if thats even possible) ? zaelu Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) not yet... I don't have a tablet yet cause I don't see yet the point for investment... (I do have an S3 mini phone as my first ever "not smarter than me phone" :P ) But I would buy a 75$ 1GHz 512MB RAM 8GB SSD 800x480 capacitive touchscreen tablet for just two things: DCS World glass cockpit and...
