My FTP tool tells me 78 655 368 bytes. My file manager tells me 76 812 000 bytes. So different file manager have different methods to measure a file length. The important thing should be, that the file is named AriesWingsRadio1.954.zipand the file date is 26-Oct-14. The fact, that you do not see any installed files, points to the internal Microsoft installer. The reason could be access rights to the programs folder or to the registry. Therefore, Setup.exe should always be started with administrator rights. If you cannot run the installation successfully, I would recommend to download the manual installation package.It needs a bit file copying and a registry modification. The description how to execute the manual installation is part of the Quick Installation Guide.

@Vespa,

The current package does not contain the new DLL. I will wait until Monday, if there are more complains which need immediate repair. The package with the newDLL will be assembled on Monday.

BTW

It is not sufficient to login as administrator. Right click the SetUp.exe icon and select 'Run as Administrator'.

Is it possible to assign a path to the Export.lua entry on/off facility within Teamspeak towsim? I can't see how I edit out the line in the latest version with the dashes, and the facility within teamspeak just says that the Export.lua can't be located. So, can I either inform the software of the location of the file, or can I disable it some other way?

We're in the final stages of implementing Aries in our Squadron, and I need to be able to switch it on and off still.

Thanks again

Neil

As stated some posts before, the reason could be, that you have to start TeamSpeak with administrator rights. However, if you want to define the path manually, you have to modify an registry entry. The attached picture shows the location. The path shown under DCSsavedGames represents the path where Aries starts to search for export.lua. Be sure, that you use the 64 bit registry. If you use the 32 bit registry you will find the Aries section under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AriesWings

As promised, the new version 1.955 is available on the Aries Wings download page. The only change in this version is the repaired AriesAirborneRadio.dll. Users who have already installed the repaired DLL (see post #522 of this thread) need not to install version 1.955.

Version 1.955 is available on the download page:

Thanks Towsim! I'll try deinstall and install the new 1.955 this evening to check for any problems or trouble.

I have to say your efforts and quick fixes are highly appreciated. I guess I'm in for a little donation, now...

Great tool and great support!

Hmm, do you have a "normal" bank account? PayPal seems to force users to create a PayPal account now! I do NOT want to have a PayPal account. So any chance to donate via normal Bank Transfer (SEPA)?

Hello Towsim!

We in the 132nd have tested ARIES alot the last week, and we have some feedback/questions.

We have a question about the Gossipbox: Are the elevation that you can configure modelled?

It appears that comms get cut off between 1000-1500ft when we are a few nautical miles away from the position set in the Gossipbox configurator. And this happens both when the Controller is set at 300ft and when he is sat at 30000ft.

This is a issue due to our KA-50s and Hueys that are flying low, and our AWACS controller have a really hard time hearing them.

On a mission we flew yesterday the KA50 had to climb up to 3000ft to get contact, even tough the range and altitude of the AWACS controller (set in the configuration manager) should not indicate such problems.

Furthermore during yesterdays mission we experienced severe comms issues at the start, and it appeared to be random who could talk to who during our startup. (We all started up at the same airfield. 6 A-10Cs, 3 KA-50s 1UH-1H and 3 Controllers with LotATC and Gossipbox)

After a few minutes thing sorted out and most flights were able to communicate to eachother.

With that beeing said, we really enjoy ARIES, and think it is a wonderfol tool that really helps for the immersion in DCS!

I will test these situations and post the answer here. The coordinate of the Gossip Box Transmitter is evaluated. There are two facts which could be the reason. One is, that the GossipBox is an older version than the actual Airborne Radio. I do not know for the moment if that impacts the communication. The other is the terrain. If you have some mountains between transmitter and receiver, the field strength of the signal is reduced. Over flat terrain or open water you should have a good quality up to 100 NM distance at 2600 ft MSL. Below 2600 ft, at 100 NM, you are beyond the horizon. You should even take care, that the altitude of the GossipBox is well above the field elevation. Otherwise your transmitter/receiver is under the ground which causes even a reduced field strength.

For the com issue at mission start, I would need a little more information if it is possible.

As I said, I will test that.

Thanks for your reply.

We are intending to upgrade to Aries Airborne Radio for DCS World V1.955

Gossipbox has version: V 1.9491 Sept, 7. 2014

Should we wait with updating Aries Airborne Radio, or should the two versions work together? Based on your statement above

Hi towsim,

Sorry to be the next in line for question million and one but everything seems fine here on mission start but when the radiostack wants to load, it remains white and DCS crashes..

Used one monitor and not in full screen! Any idea? Sorry if you have addressed this before

Truly great what you ate doing as I have used previous versions! Keep it up!

@Reaper_Mav

No sweat, you are welcome. The only way to find the reason is to inspect the log files.

Look for the following files and send it to support@ariescon.com:

In the folder, where you unzipped the downloaded package, there should be file named AirbornRadioInstaller_log.htm.
C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins\AriesRadio \ AriesRadioLog_log.html
DCS World\AriesWings\logs\ AriesAirborneRadio_log.html
If present, C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\DCS-xxxxxxxxxx.crash
C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log

Make sure, that the files are produced by a crash session.

A question to CH users:

Does anybody use the CH pro fighter stick together with Aries? If yes, it would be for interest how the joystick has to be configured so, that it can be used with Aries Radio. The troubles are, that the buttons cannot be recognized in Aries Radio in spite of a correct configuration in the Aries Configurator.

Hi towsim,

Finally managed to get Aries loaded and sort of running, the ARD DCSWORLD Configurator , is set to HOTAS Warthog by default, when I press a button on my Siatek , it stops working and the windows box for a solution keeps coming up, If I do manage to set the configurator up and save then exit, when i go back into it, it's back to HOTAS Warthog default settings, Help please :)

@Shane45

It seems, that the results of the configurator (ARD) cannot be written to the right folder or it does not have the access rights. Try the following:

Start ARD with administrator rights. It is not sufficient to be logged in as administrator. Do a right click on the ARD icon and select 'Compatibility' . Activate the check mark for 'Run this program as an administrator'

Set up your devices in ARD and save it.

If this procedure fails, please start up a short mission. It is not necessary to test the radio. I need only to see what files are loaded and their folders. After Mission end send the following files to support@ariescon.com:

\DCS World\AriesWings\logs\AriesAirborneRadio_log.html

\DCS World\AriesWings\AriesAirborneRadio.ini

@Shane45

I just found the other thread you started with this problem. Therefore some more questions.

Is your Saitek device listed in the Aries Configurator ?

Does the registry entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AriesWings\DCSWorldPath

show the correct path to the DCS world installation?

If you open the Log file DCS World\AriesWings\AriesConfigurator_log.html, you should find as first line the DCS world installation path. The Configuration results from ARD are stored in the subfolder 'AriesWings' as AriesAirborneRadio.ini. If the path is not correct you have a problem with the registry entries.

I got the feedbacks from our wing community and we have the following results:

  • The game master function will be retained. As soon as the button is pressed, no inputs from clients are accepted. With this function the situation can be controlled, if all participants shall work with the same configuration.
  • If the game master is not occupied, everybody can set his own configuration which will be even stored locally. However, only the receiver configuration will be noticeable by nature. The transmitter functions are set, but will be noticeable only by the external participants.
  • The sliders for the band path filters will be enhanced so as to have values between 1000 Hz and 48000 Hz, to be set smoothly without steps.
  • The geometrical range of the sliders will be extended for more precise setting
  • The small edit fields to the left will accept inputs, if the slider positioning is not precise enough.
  • The button for standard values will be replaced by 5 profile buttons. The content will be free editable and individually named.
  • The button row with the switchable options will be reorganized. One set will be marked as transmitter options, another as receiver options. This shall be for better understanding which options impact the local sound and which not.
  • An additional test button will play a WAV sound file which will be modified with the current configuration. So it is possible to test locally the current transmitter and receiver options.
  • There will be a INI file entry for each supported aircraft with a definition, how strong the mask modification will be audible.

I hope, with the more precise set options, everybody can set his own voice communication configuration and I am out of the discussion.

Any ECD on when this will be in a released version? We're holding off adopting Aries until we can tune more precisely.

Thanks!
