dooom Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 what livery is that then??? sure fooled me for Russian. ASUS Tuf Gaming Pro x570 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 3.8 / XFX Radeon 6900 XT / 64 GB DDR4 3200 "This was not in the Manual I did not read", cried the Noob" - BMBM, WWIIOL
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Seems to be part of an Aggressor squadron, hence the red star on the tail coupled with US markings on the side of the fuselage - they're paid to fool you for Russians :P

Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I wonder if they'll bring together a 5th gen' fighter aggressor squadron once Russia gets the PAK-FA operational?
Fjordmonkey Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I wonder if they'll bring together a 5th gen' fighter aggressor squadron once Russia gets the PAK-FA operational? Doubt it, since that would mean either allocating existing F22-airframes to Aggressor-squadrons or starting up production of the F22 again, neither of which is likely to happen. There's too few F22's in operation as it is, and from what I've understood, starting up the productionlines on the F22 is out of the question due to cost of the aircraft. Regards Fjordmonkey Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone. I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 What about F-35s though (or relocating F-22s replaced in active service, in the future)? Although I think with 5th gen aircraft no one will really see much paint whatsoever...
Cali Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 It's a F-18, I have pictures I took from Miramar of some when I was there in 2010. The quality sucks on them, but I can post it if you want? i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
wickedpenguin Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 F-18C. We had eight Top Gun birds base out of our airport a couple of months back. The aggressors weren't painted in the above color. Most were in a haze gray, but one was in a brown, desert-style look. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Nealius Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I noticed a lot of Aggressor aircraft are two-seaters...the JASDF's entire squadron of Aggressors is made of two-seaters if I'm not mistaken. Is there any particular reason for that?

wickedpenguin Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Here are shots I took of the desert-painted F/A-18 that was basing out of here (Pensacola) in February. Note that it has "Marines" written on the left side and "Navy"on the right. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
