Hi guys, At the moment I'm currently running Helios while flying the A10 and Blackshark in DCs World, and don't get me wrong it is amazing. I love using it for my virtual cockpit.

However now DCS World is starting to get other modules, FC3, P51 and Huey at the mo, with many more to come. Helios is getting rather restrictive as it seems it won't work with any of these.

Is there any alternative out there, that does the job as well as Helios but at the same time allows for cockpits on all aircraft and modules to be simulated. Or is there any chance of Helios to be upgraded to allow it to see these modules. I know I certainly would be willing to pay for such an upgrade.

After seeing what is possible with a great virtual cockpit and touchscreen, it's certainly hard to go back to flying without it.

How about spend a thousand hours coding a new program and give it away for free...!

I'm working on getting Helios available as open source, which would enable enterprising individuals to support additional modules. Unfortunately my personal coding time is much less than it used be. I have updated Phidgets interfaces, and upgraded EOS support along with a few other bug fixes. Next up is support for 1.2.4 world.

Combing through the lua for additional modules is time intensive, and technically "fiddley" so I'm not sure how many people will do it to the level I did for BlackShark and A-10C. I'll try to move that config outside the code where possible so it's easier for non-developers, but some of the techniques used are fairly specific coding for individual switches.

I am sure everyone appreciates any time that you put into Helios. It is easy to get spoiled by what we can do with the A-10 and BS but everyone should understand that along with the additional modules, DCS itself is a moving target to some extent which just adds to the issues.

I actually paid for Helios, way back when, but I have no complaints since I never envisioned using it for anything but the A-10, and maybe the Shark. Sure, support for every aircraft would be nice but even from a fully commercial product, that would be a lot to ask considering the scope of the work and the extent of the continual changes in DCS.

DCS is a small shop, but 'Gadroc' is even smaller. ;)

That is a great idea and I look forward to the new version. I've always wished I could help fix bugs and it will be good to be able to do it.

Another donation for sure :)

Also paid for Helios back when it was still payware and would gladly do it again. There are still a few bugs here and there, but it is the most functional touchscreen solution for DCS in my book.

Of course I'd love to see a few features patched into its current state or even Helios 2.0 (make it payware if it helps), but these things take time. Also, Helios is limited by some missing features on DCS' end like the missing capability to export screens over the network.

I tried all the DCS touchscreen interfaces out there and in the end I got back to Helios and there I stayed, for a very good reason. ;)

Guys, guys, Please don't think I'm complaining about this stunning program you guys brought to our community. I love Helios and use it almost every day.

However I am aware, that you guys have a life and can't dedicate time to continually update this. Hence the question, I was just wondering if there was anything else out there would be updated to the latest modules.

Thankyou Gadroc for spending more of your time, to try and open up Helios and make it open source, as this would hopefully allow the program to continue to be updated.

Again, let me point out, that I love Helios, it works great and is a stunning piece of software that I would recommend to everyone.

I didn't take it any other way. I'm aware of the state of Helios and DCS and relative pace of change. I'm keenly aware that people paid money to use the product originally and it hasn't had the lifecycle I originally desired. I told people I would do the right thing in this event, which in my mind is opening it up.

To output russian style gauges (FC3 and Black Shark) you can use my programs BSVP and LOVP I spent many hours of implementing, and give away for free :)

Doesn't provide any input, just output.

Impressive Mnemonic!

I am planning on building the UH-1H's main instrument panel. Any chance you could be persuaded to add those gauges to your program?

Thanks!

Hey guys i was wondering how to make the second monitor used for the gauges on the front panel to not drop 4 inches when the game is running could anyone help me with this. In other words the whole screen gets shifted down and i cannot read the bottom fourth of the front panel when the game is running

I used a program called Easy Monitor Configurator. Some people dislike it, I'm not one of those. Helped me ensure that I have the correct settings and files in place to use Helios properly, as well as my exports.
