The secondary SAI has not functioned correctly for months, for me. When flying about, it just goes nuts and does not maintain a steady attitude indication. Resetting it, the SAI just goes out again. I cannot rely on it. Accumulated errors is probably the issue and maybe not a bug.

I was flying the Shark in a Multiplayer -STP- server mission, wee hours this morning, in a mountain valley where it was very difficult to know where level is, due to the valley floor and mountain sidewalls not being vertical or horizontal; I found it to be disorienting.

The other instrument, for me, not using TrackIR, the ADI, visually from the pilot's seat, not zoomed in, is harder to see and judge how I am exactly oriented---I prefer using the SAI. I do have a snap view mapped.

What I use to stay oriented is the HUD's Aircraft Datum or the "real" Earth's horizon.

Wait... is that suppose to work correctly? I thought is for starting jokes during the night missions... oh well.

-- Constant drift

ConstDriftYRate_Scale = 0.0003 -- rad/sec

ConstDriftXRate_Scale = 0.0003 -- rad/sec

above values seem to be working for me so far in making the SAI more realistic (IMHO). I've worked with gyro operated instruments before and the BS SAI drift seemed excessive to me. I really do need to test it more to see if it is correct.

I don't know if the Russian engineer didn't want the SAI to be better, or if ED has failed with the modeling. Anyhow, it sucks, and doing some combat turns will make it go crazy. I don't even uncage it anymore.

I've flown light aircraft a couple of times where the AH is literally about to fail totally due to utterly stuffed bearings (you can hear them screeching and whining away) which were still 1000 times better than the Ka50 SAI. It is useless and needs to be snagged!

It works for me because I fly smoothly when I use it. It is a backup electrically driven gauge and it does what it is supposed to do. You need to uncage it early in the startup sequence that the average Ka-50 pilot does not do as they use Auto start. You uncage it when you need it if you are going fly like a Hot Dog. The modeled drift was insane though and this is better.

SAI is usable now and it seems more accurate than the regular ADI, even with maneuvering. Just remember it reacts to speed changes (as it should).

May need some more drift added.
