Very interesting design what type of switches and buttons are you going to use?

I am planning on making the button tops myself.

Interesting design, has got me curious. I there something I have missed? Is it not accurate? It is from photos.

Would welcome your feedback.

Button Test

The image below is just a test of the template for the buttons.

They are only painted on the top and made from clear, hence the shabby look but the template works good, needs a few little tweaks but not far.

FUNC button a little tight.

If it is just as template for the buttons I would suggest making them i white acrylic with paint on top. Mine are clear with paint on top and they tend to get a little difficult to see as the tactile button below is black.

Just a suggestion. May not be a problem if you do backlit buttons.

Looks great as always

Cheers

The clear use is just for testing, I have more of that. The finished buttons will be made of 60% opal white.

The finished circuit board will use illuminated tactile switches.

Thanks for the feedback, its always welcomed.

Looking good marker, glad you like them.

Placed one red LED behind them using a 5V battery, thinking 2 or 3 would be perfect.

But the lighting on the wording worked perfectly!

Glider, how would you recommend backlighting? LED-strip? LED's?

Check this video out for backlighting

Very dodgy music, look from 1:42.

There is also el wire for tighter panels

But there are many ways of achieving it.

Do you have a link for the back panel lighting within the UK or EU?

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/displays-optoelectronics/displays-industrial-monitors/electro-luminescent-sheets/

I spoke to support there a couple of weeks ago, some are in stock the rest he said would be in within 2 weeks.

You also need to get a inverter if you want to power the sheet by USB. It requires an AC current, hence the inverter.

if you power it by other means (power pack) you will not need it.

They are very helpful if you give them a call.

My panels from Glider, sorted with switches I have so far and wiring.

Really great panels and they look so good.

Hope I can now do them justice in finding a way to mount them.

Thanks again Glider, really looking forward to the UFC now :)

Well depending on if they would fit and what you will use to mount the panels on you may try these they are a bit expensive but all ready on your side of the pond. They will give you a great finished look

EL light sheet have several disadvantages that are well documented on the Viperputs form that you may wish to review befor investing in purchasing those .

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

DM, do they make those in black, or do you have to paint them all? I figured I did mine at around $.30 a piece vs. $1.30, but of course these look a lot more professional! My homemade ones don't have the nice rolled over top to capture the fastener like the real ones. The panels are looking sharp!

Buttons aren't toys! :smilewink:
