Vault Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Its an old joke that began in Agincourt where even the French admit themselves that they flew the traditional french war flag of a white cross on a white background and promptly fled the battlefield. We annihilated the French in the 100 years war and there are many many accounts of the French fleeing battle. Old joke, but it's priceless. Madone Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 The Rafale is a good aircraft, it's cheap and quick to maintain, modern avionics... but we also have some incredible pilots, as the Rafale is pretty expensive to buy, there's less slots and trust me, the recruits fight like dogs to get their arse in one... "I've still got my longbow fingers" Sorry to bring this offtopic, but as I said, you need to read a bit more. Of the 35 battles that took place between 1337 and 1453 ( The 100 years war), English won 18, French 17. I fail to see how this can be called "annihilation". And I also fail to see the relevance with the topic of the Rafale HUD video. How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese? mvsgas Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 AFAIK, there are two different HUD video with Rafale killing F-22, is that correct? One was in U.A.E. and not sure where was the other, does anyone know? Does anyone know more details about this video? Youtube comment is not the best thing to read. For Example they label this as RedFlag when this where prior to RedFlag, where the Rafales where fighting Block 25 At Luke, old block 25 that are now retired, so the Rafales outclass them in dissimilar BFM. The only part of the video in Nellis was the last 30 seconds. Anyway, Rafale HUD video.... QZfm2dtyyPI To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
RIPTIDE Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 We annihilated the French Its an old joke The best part of that joke is that it can be soundly argued that 'We' is simply another part of Greater France... and arguably right up to the end of the Plantagenets. Those wars were simply civil wars. Old Norman French fighting among themselves. :D:music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Keep politics and matters of national pride out of this. Back on topic. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Madone Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Cheap to maintain ?! That´s news... That's a difference between the Mirage 2000 and the Rafale. The Rafale is more cost effective simply because it requires less engineers and less "stuff", the availability is also increased because they changed their methods. The Rafale is probably more expensive than a Mirage but once operationnal, the maintenance is easily done. Looking at the present situation is rather a good thing... Pilotasso Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 French aircraft have traditionally been easy to maintain, the initial purchase investiment and parts cost is another issue altogether. :D .

sylkhan Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Easy are very different of cheap.. Quality is never cheap ;)
RodrigoMF_BR Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Quality is never cheap ;) This is a bigger Rafale issue.. Most of others products has the same or better quality at much lower costs..
mmtaraval Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I would guess that the skill of the pilot, weapons deployed, and numerical superiority would be a bigger factor than who has the "best" plane. If you put a veteran pilot in an f-16 up against the greatest fighter ever built piloted by a newbie, I would give it to the veteran. I'm sure you guys know these are training exercises, not "who has the illest fighter plane in the world" skirmishes. i7-4790k stock 4.4 / gtx 980ti / 16gb ram / 256gb ssd (os) / 256gb ssd for apps / Acer XB27OHU 27" g-sync

Kaktus29 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 @mmtaraval.. its not just pilots that determine the fight but plain old overall strength.. if you have 100 F-16 with good pilots and all equippment working, radar, rwr, EW, etc.. vs. enemy air force of 4 F-15 with amazing veteran pilots.. but with maintenence problems because of sanctions that is clear the F16 side wins.. its overall power that matters.. so, numbers, money, pilot training, economic power, determination of people as a nation to go through the war.. so in the end such small issues like rafale vs. eurofighter don't really matter in strategic point of view..
