techen Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Heya guys, I got my Hotas warthog joystick today and was wondering what to do for the rudder? I have no foot pedals as of yet and was wondering if anyone has an idea to overcome the use of the keys?
Wrecking Crew Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Saitek Combat Pro Pedals :-) Just what you wanted to hear, I bet. techen Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 After spending a kidney for this set up, I was more thinking of something I could use ... uh Now? :P
Wrecking Crew Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Well, the default keys are Z and X I think... You can use the Options -> Controls in DCS to make a Modifier Key for the Warthog. I use the stick's Paddle Switch. Once you set up the modifier, and give it a name like 'Paddle Sw', then you can combine that with other Warthog controls, like maybe the Coolie Hat - use the Coolie Hat Left and Right for Rudder Inputs - add those to the Keyboard commands. BTW, I do not use TARGET with the Warthog - just the DCS Options. Reaper73 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 You could map the rudder to the slider axis on the throttle until you decide on a pedal set up. +1 on the Saitek Combat Pro Pedals. 311Gryphon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 +1 on the Saitek Combat Pros. Luckily I found mine bundled with a TM Warthog (all used) so I saved a couple hundred bucks on it all. In the end, you can probably get away without pedals for the A-10C but it won't be as fun. I rarely use rudders once in the sky. However, I'd be unable to fly the UH-1 at all without them so the pedals help increase your options for DCS. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Siq6Six Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 +1 on the combat pedals. Got mine in anticipation of ordering my HOTAS Warthog, couldn't be happier. You already sold a kidney for your stick... Know what else you only need one of? We can call you Half Sack! Hey! Lance Armstrungout....errr...Armstrong seems to be doin just fine! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Wedge Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 You don't have an old steering wheel by some stroke of luck? I THINK you can map those pedals...
schkorpio Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 or even an old control pad with an analog stick that you can place near your throttle Sponsored by: http://www.ozpc.com.au
PFunk1606688187 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 or even an old control pad with an analog stick that you can place near your throttle Pffft, obviously you should place the controller on the floor and use your big toe to actuate the rudder. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
