ENO Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I don't think we've been able to connect via direct IP while in Internet game setting for awhile now. You'd need to have it set to LAN (I believe). We wrestled with this problem awhile ago... but I'm quite certain that was the case. You're saying the server dropped from the list- but everyone stayed in? Or it dropped, everyone got kicked and they couldn't re-enter? I remember last time what they asked for was for the server side log when these things happen. Do you still have it by chance? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 25, 2013 ED Team Posted August 25, 2013 the server dropped from the list, but we were still active I was not the server host but I will ask him next time I am on Forum rules - DCS Crashing? L0op8ack Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) Shrek server has had issues tonight, 6 of us in flying, then server drops from the master server list, and then no one else can connect even via direct i.p even though server is still up and running. Seems like the guy who host server has a dynamic-IP-assignment link, for example DHCP/PPPoE. WAN IP may change while IP-lease-timeout expires on these links. This will cause cliets connection lost. At the same time, this server can never be detected according to the timed-out IP/port, and will be removed from list / marked as 'inactive server'. Any 'Server Type = Internet' DCS server which did not appear in server list, can not 'Connect by IP' either. It's 'inactive'. If the guy who host server has DHCP/PPPoE link, setup server with 'Server Type = LAN', and clients join his server by 'Connect by IP'. Clients will suffer connection lost while his WAN IP change, but they can rejoin by Connect the new IP and life goes on. Edited August 25, 2013 by L0op8ack
uboats Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Can your guys connect via direct ip? You may need to set connection type to LAN. That's an old workaround we used to use Do you know the difference that how DCS works on LAN or ADSL1024? I just tried that if I switched back to LAN connection mode, my friend can not see my server like what he experienced before. But if I switch it back to ADSL, it worked again .... Another thing is that, when I locally fly, after loading screen, the cockpit is well rendered. But if I played online with my friends, after loading screen, the cockpit was completely black, and then recovered rows by rows..... Do you have any ideas? seikdel Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Eno: Tried that last fix you posted, too, but to no avail. Is there something I'm missing? As soon as I have the server up and I can select aircraft, it should be visible in the master list, right? And no, direct IP doesn't work either.
ENO Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Eh seik- wonder if you're one of the ones whose ISP is blocking that port. What happens if you port forward 10309 or another such port? Also some have luck forwarding a range between 10308-10309. I do recall that helped some people. Have you tried hosting out of a dmz? Are you quite able with the router or do we need to verify that you've forwarded the right port from the right network IP address for your comp? Just curious as I'd really like to see you hit this one. Possibly try running Adsl 1024 also- no idea why that works but apparently it does! seikdel Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Using this tool, it appears that port 10308 is open when hosting a mission. I'll try the 1024 next time I have a buddy on who can test it.
ENO Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Like I said though Seik... I wonder if the ISP has it blocked. I've seen that happen at LEAST once around here. I'm not sure exactly what that entails- to be honest... but he had to talk to the ISP and it resolved the issue. Now with that being said if he'd used that tool you did I'm not sure if it would have reported being open or closed... but if that 1024 thing doesn't work it may be worth a phone call.
