Cooper 001 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 How large of a SSD would be needed for DCS alone? With all modules. I have a empty 64 gig, would that be large enough?
Cali Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I would think what is good. I have a 240GB SSD and have about 130GB free. I use mine for everything and not DCS alone. I have my OS, DCS, BMS and Arma II all installed on it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
VTJS17_Fire Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 IIRC, my DCS installation needs actually about 30gb (all moduls, except Su-25a, FC3, P-51). But I look ahead and now have a 250GB SSD, for DCS only, maybe at October with BF4, too. Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! Kuky Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I have everything installed and my DCS folder is bit less than 13GB Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi MB | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC AIO 360 | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD x2 | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | HOTAS Cougar+MFG Crosswind ... and waiting on Pimax Crystal Super VR headset & DCS MiG-29A release
cichlidfan Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) I actually have over 17GB in my DCS folder but that does include a bunch of skins and terrain mods, for JSGME which means they are actually there twice, which are not small. Cooper 001 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 I changed my order to a 128 gig. Hamblue Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Nice system You should probably add a 1 tb mechanical drive as well. Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive, GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals. Trackir 5, Verizon FIOS 25Meg Up/Down
cichlidfan Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Nice system You should probably add a 1 tb mechanical drive as well. Agreed. My flight machine (in my sig) has lots of SSD space but I still have a mechanical drive for assorted stuff (like mods, documents and screen shots) that I don't need wasting SSD space. Night Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I would recommend the 128Gb Samsung 840 pro - it is fast as HELL, far faster than the corsair SSD you picked (I have one of those too and it is not as fast as the 840 pro). Samsung is using a fantastic controller in their pro SSD's. xxJohnxx Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Yeah I can just agree with that what Night said. I got myself the 512Gb Samsung 840 pro, and it is awesome. Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
