Nealius Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Is it possible to use radio nav to get to a FARP? I set up a FARP with a command post and frequency of 116.0 AM. Confirmed the radio does work, but when I set my NAV-COM radio to 116.0 and flip the switch next to the compass to VOR nothing happens...
Lizzard Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Hmm..I just tried it myself..set up a FARP at 110.00 MHZ flicked Switches like mad and tried different Frequencies..no Success at all..so I guess..it is a Bug, not (yet) implemented, or I am to stupid:( My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Donglr Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 don't know if the modulation type matters for using the NAV radio in the Huey. But even if it didn't you'd probably only see anything while someone is communicating with the FARP. With the Ka50 I tested the ADF function with the tower frequency at an airport. The ADF needle will point to the direction of the source, BUT ONLY WHILE SOMEONE IS TALKING, be it an aircraft or the tower itself.

VERY good Point...the Problem is..I can`t even communicate with the FARP..it appears in my Radio communication Menu, but is blacked out?!?! I use "Simple Communication"..I tried setting up a FARP Tent and a FARP Command Post..but they still don`t want to talk to me.. My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
TurboHog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) A transmitter with a frequency within the VOR range does not make it a VHF omnidirectional range station! A VOR uses two antenna's with two radio waves that are in antiphase. The difference in time for reaching the receiving antenna can be used for triangulation. Edited September 13, 2013 by TurboHog pulses - sure... I mean radio waves. 'Frett'

TurboHog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 o.k. makes sense..but..is it possible to set up a VOR ind DCS then?! There already are some 'real' VOR stations. You can find them in the ME if I remember correctly. 'Frett'
sgtmike74 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 You can also have the command station transmit a sound file, such as a low freq tone. This option is available under "perform command" "transmit message". Browse for a sound clip then make sure you check the "loop" box. This way the command post will continue to broadcast and you can home on the signal

On a staionary Object (FARP Command Post) I can not assign an Action like Transmit Message because there are no Waypoints, and on a mobile Command Post I can not assign a Frequency it Transmits the Message:huh: God I am a Noob when it comes to the ME:music_whistling: My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..

If it still doesn't show change your option to realistic comms.
TurboHog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Just place a lone infantryman right beside the command post, he has that option. If it still doesn't show change your option to realistic comms. You have to assign an action to the unit in the triggers and actions menu. 'Frett'
Rainbowed Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 what i do is that i set an Ural-375 or any kind of ground unit in FRAP a "Transmit Message" trigger and make it transmit a sound in a loop in FM radio. Then I use FM Nav to locate that unit. Hope this helps =怒火雄鹰= LockBay http://www.lockbay.cn [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic88944_7.gif[/sIGPIC]
Lizzard Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Thanks for your Tips Guys..I managed do assign a "Transmit Message" Job to a Mobile Command Post near the FARP..o.k. but where do i set the Frequency this Guy Transmits on?!?! There is no Option on Frequency (or I don`t get it)..I just get this Option on the FARP Helipad itself, but on that Frequency the Command Post does not Transmit:( My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Rainbowed Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 but where do i set the Frequency this Guy Transmits on?!?! There is no Option on Frequency (or I don`t get it).. ah... sorry dude, my bad. actually, what you need is to add two things. first as you already did, add "Transmit message", make it transmit in a loop. then you add "Set Frequency". set a frequency and then choose FM. that should do the trick just make sure you add an audio file to that unit to transmit and make it a loop. otherwise without an audio file it doesnt have anything to transmit. if you forget to check "transmit in a loop" it will only transmit the audio once, then go slience. =怒火雄鹰= LockBay http://www.lockbay.cn [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic88944_7.gif[/sIGPIC]
Lizzard Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Many Thanx..."set frequency" God..I have not seen that:) Anyway..I played around..set an Audio File to loop and a bunch of Frequencies for my Mobile Command Post..all fine.. then tested all Radios in the Huey..nothing worked..no Sound..no bearing..nothing...I guess I am to dumb for that... My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..

Use the AN/ARC-131 VHF FM radio and set it to 'homing' Use the ID-1347/ARN 82 Course deviation indicator (right below HSI) to navigate to the beacon. See this video that someone made: 'Frett'

You need to enter the FM freq that unit is transmit to your FM radio and select HOME mode. then your Course Deviation Indicator should come to life. Vertical pointer should guide your way to the unit. anyways, give it a try. i am at work now but if this doesnt work, i will do some test when i get home. ed. turbohog beat me. =怒火雄鹰= LockBay http://www.lockbay.cn [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic88944_7.gif[/sIGPIC]
TurboHog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 You need to enter the FM freq that unit is transmit to your FM radio and select T/R mode. then your Course Deviation Indicator should come to life. Vertical pointer should guide your way to the unit. anyways, give it a try. i am at work now but if this doesnt work, i will do some test when i get home. No. See my post above yours. T/R is fine for hearing the sound but you want to select Homing for the CDI to come alive. 'Frett'
Rainbowed Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 No. See my post above yours. Lib Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 For the sound file i use a Morse code generator i download it in "Wave file" then i change it in ".ogg file" (to be smaler in the mission). For exemple, i enter the text : CB (for Charlie Bravo) and i have a nice Morse code to hear befor selecting "home". I find it ... fun :D
Nealius Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 So I set a Stryker to 'perform action' set frequency FM 31.00, then 'transmit' in a loop. For the hell of it I picked an actual song in .mp3 format. When I turned on the VHF FM radio and set to 31.00, it appears the homing signal works, but I hear no audio. Is there a file size limit for the audio recording?

I dont know but first i used .mp3 files, sometimes it plays and sometime there's nothing. but then i coverted .mp3 to .ogg and it works every single time. dont know why mp3 is having trouble playing though. =怒火雄鹰= LockBay http://www.lockbay.cn [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic88944_7.gif[/sIGPIC]

Nealius Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 I just tried the morse-code .ogg method and it worked perfectly.
