TrackIR change in 1.2.6

Okayyy... back up and running

 

Latest DCS update, using default view and non modified TIR5 profile, all is smooth and buttery. {with and without TIR running}

 

However, there are couple of things though... Keypad 5 doesn't seem to centre view ( A10C) as it should and the "shoulder look" function really needs to be revisited.

Basically the function throws the "head" around in the cockpit in a most un-natural fashion {this is with using the default view settings} shots from A10c and F15... P51 seems unaffected

1.2.6.19532 through the update manager as ran on start up this morning. I'm assuming its the latest/ current/ most recently released update? I run only the A-10C, P51 and FC3 modules

I don't know about "fixed" per se, or exactly how old the update is (as I have been down for a while, as indicated I only got back my rig back up and running this morning)... but yeah, my end with my machine in its current configuration has all being good, except for the "head position" and, I don't run mods or tweak files or have a lot of useless stuff on my PC, or bad system tweaks

Boys... this seems to have been fixed by ED and fix will come in later updates, but for now I would like you to try it

I haven't tested it yet, if it works that's great and you won't have to wait till it's fixed in regular official update

 

Can be done in any 1.2.6 release by adding a

line to Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg:

 

input.read_rate = 120

If you don't have autoexec.cfg in this folder create one and add this line

I NEED FEEDBACK FROM THOSE THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE - PLEASE TEST USING THE WORKAROUND WITH AUTOEXEC.CFG AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK

 

For me personally I think it's OK but to be honest I can still see it's not 100% smooth but I am not sure if it's FPS, before I give feedback to developers I need feedback from you

I don't have an autoexec.cfg in there.

Questions:

- Why not?

- How does one create one?

- ANd what to put in there because when i look at your example, you seem to have quite a bit of graphic setting in there.

- And again, why don't i have one since it seems part of the DCS system?

Autoexec.cfg is just a text file and its not there by default because it is only to be used if user wants to change some settings in graphics.lua file and not have to keep making the changes every time an update occurs (as update removes any modified files withing DCS installation folder - but doesn't touch any files in SavedGames DCS folder)

 

How to make Autoexec.cfg?

 

Just copy/paste existing network.cfg file for example (which is in same folder)... rename it to Autoexec.cfg, delete anything written in it (use Notepad++ to edit the file) and add any lines you want (depending what you want to edit in graphics.lua file)... in this case you only add the line input.read_rate = 120

 

PS: I have more stuff in it because I like to use my own values (some are for slightly better FPS, some are for bit more eyecandy, it's just values I am used to)

There is graphics_readme.txt file in DCS World/Config folder (same folder as Graphics.lua)

 

Old graphics.cfg is gone and replaced with graphics.lua.

However, please, do not edit this file directly.

Otherwise you'll lose your changes after each update.

 

New method for overriding options is to create (or edit) a file

 

C:\Users\<YOUR-LOGIN>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg

 

or

 

C:\Users\<YOUR-LOGIN>\Saved Games\edModelViewer\Config\autoexec.cfg

 

(for model viewer)

 

and place your changes there.

Note:

- autoexec.cfg settings will override the options set via GUI.

- Graphic options in autoexec.cfg should be prefixed with options.graphics.

- file encoding should be UTF-8 without BOM

 

Example autoexec.cfg:

 

options.graphics.maxfps = 30

options.graphics.render3D = false

options.graphics.ScreenshotQuality = 75

-- add custom texture path

-- note the slashes!

Feedback:

 

Just made the autoexec.cfg file (made with Notepad++ out of an empty Network.cfg file) and added "input.read_rate = 120" and ran a little test.

 

I got no improvement with this... the only thing i experience is a more irratic behaviour of TrackIR movement and the shoppiness is still there...:(

So i confirm my first post: no improvement with only the first line in the autoexec.cfg.

Also, adding the second line or removing the first line and having only the second line in the autoexec.cfg shows again no improvement...:(

BTW, i don't "think" it didn't fix anything, i'm sure it didn't fix anything. I still have a standalone A-10C to compare (or any other game with TrackIR for that matter).

 

But big thx for the effort so far Kuky. If all this is over, you get a nice rep from me...

PS: But before i change settings... it runs fine on 1.2.5 with my current settings (as it did on all previous versions), it does not run fine on 1.2.6.

Changing settings might be a solution but for me that's not a real solution. I'm not going to spend time and time again to find a sweetspot after each single update for every sim i run. If that's the case i'll call siming goodbye, i just lack the time then. Also, it should work out of the box, no hassle every single time... (just my 2 cents)
