LVNona Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Hello! I just finish to build high end PC and get really low FPS. I try to find for any information, but the problem is there is too much information withour proper guide (like where to change files, filenames, directories) e.t.c. People also frustrated to buy game for high end PC and have low FPS. Can someone please guide me what to do and how to do. I used to have gaming laptop with GTX570m + I7 2.9Mhz and I got 30-45FPS and play no problem. Now I got Desktop twice more powerfull and get around 15-25fps. when is nobody around i got 45-60fps. My PC: Mobo:Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5 Z87 CPU: I7-4770k (4.5 OC) (4 core) Ram: G.Skill 2400Mhz 16GB Video: HD6990 OC PSU: Corsair 1200iW Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 SSD: Kingston HyperdriveX HDD data:1tb Case: Corsair HAF XM Arma 3 Ultra settings im getting 45-60fps BF3 Ultra 130fps What do I do wrong? Thanks
pacotito Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 First thing to try is to disable crossfire on your gpu. Users seem to usually have lower fps with crossfire enabled. Make sure your power saving options are off for the CPU in bios as well as hyperthreading. Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. Gigabyte ssc GTX960 SSC 4gb

HD6990 I don't believe there is the way do disable Crossfire! It has 2xgpu by default. Or maybe I don't know how? CCC doesn't show anything.
AtaliaA1 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Same here with 4770k and 7970 ! Wow!!! There has to be a common denominator here. This machine of yours is a perfect candidate for overclocking, it isn't? Have you tried restarting the PC before you start up the sim? leaving it on 24/7 fills up cache and temp files needed for a smooth run. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. pacotito Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Yes hyperthreading in bios and the c states for the CPU. In windows set the power setting to performance. There should be an option in ccc to disable crossfire. I'm not sure though. Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. Gigabyte ssc GTX960 SSC 4gb
Wolf Rider Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 (edited) Install the sim to a directory outside of the C:\ Program Files for starters (providing the sim Root Folder with Full Permissions as well) and turn off (set it to OFF not AUTO) Threaded Optimisation in the NVidia Control Panel (or AMD/ ATI Control Panel, if it has it). Turn off Core Parking (in Registry it must be done - be careful and research fully first) Edited September 22, 2013 by Wolf Rider City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." LVNona Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Thanks ;) Hyper thread disabling actually helps a lot ;) Now I'll try to do Core Parking and see what happens. Threaded Optimisation <---I couldn't find in CCC Is there any other mods to improve FPS and better look?
LVNona Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Yesterday again try to play with Hyperthread off and didnt help. CPU overclocked to 4.6Mhz. when game starts and i have few objects (like tanks, planes with my team labels) i get around 45-55fps, but when i start to see enemy marks and more vehicles, planes and rockets - FPS drops to 8fps and stuttering. Impossible to play and very frustrated. My freaking laptop gets better performance than my high end desktop. Core Parking - off Hyperthread - off Any idea?
Chazz_BMF Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) In ccc set everything to application setting. This is crucial!!! Btw how much vram does your gpu have? EDIT: Also if you have a option to disable catalyst A.I. make sure it is disabled. This will let you disable crossfire. It helped a lot back when I had a 4870x2. Running dual gpu´s on your card does nothing good for your fps in DCS. Also maybe post some screenshots of your settings might be a good idea, to give ppl a chance of helping you! Hyper Threading needs to be ON for the operating System to work properly and all cores enabled in BIOS I read through but couldn't ascertain if you have your sim installed into the default C:\ Program Files. Core Parking... how did you turn that off? Threaded Optimisation, is an NVidia setting. (I haven't used AMD/ATI for so long now... there may be an equivalent under a different name?) AtaliaA1 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Most Over Clockers muck with the Cache settings in windows. This bit of techism is from the old days. leave the cache file to windows controlled and see if it helps. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. My system is SSD (for Windows) and system programms + HDD (data&programm files) DCS installed on HDD Looks like I get some improvements - High settings (shadows & water medium)and get around 35-60fps. Hyperthread is ON, dual GPU HD6990 I cant disable Crossfire. Try to use RadeonPro for advanced settings - no difference. What actually might helped me is to turn off Core Parking. I'm pretty sure I'm able to get better performance and just need to find how.
AtaliaA1 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 To get to the page file. right click my computer, then click advanced system settings, in this window click the advanced tab, then click settings in the performance block, in performance options click the advanced tab, at the bottom of this window Virtual memory will have a change tab click it, and check the box labeled Automatically manage paging file for all drives. James. Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I did find that dropping the AI traffic down to Low helped a lot. I normally pull > 120FPS so not really an issue for me but I have had a play around with the settings to see what’s what. I have run MSI afterburner in the background recording GPU & VRAM usage while running DCS world and was shocked at how much VRAM the sim was chewing up. I run at 2560 x 1600 on a single screen and with max AA the VRAM usage sits at nearly 3GB solid which is monstrous. If you’re maxing your VRAM then you will get frame drop so worth a check on usage. Im running an I7 3970X @ 4.6Ghz and two GTX Titans. No difference in performance with SLI disabled so it looks like SLI isn’t causing problems. I’ll do some more digging around and post back if I find any “golden” settings that work really well. I would drop the AI traffic down to LOW and disable Windows Aero compatibility (think that’s what it’s called) It’s in the graphics options in game. Is by the tick boxes for things like heat blur over at the right hand side of the screen. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
