howie87 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 DCS keeps getting bigger and better but the Viper is one of the most popular and common western combat aircraft and it's still rocking that ugly ass 3D model! I've given up hoping for a "DCS F-16" module but it would be nice to see AI ones looking pretty at least. Actually... Who am I kidding. I'm still hoping a 3rd party will pick up the Viper torch if ED won't.
tarracta Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Maybe the reason is that the F-16 has with Falcon 4.0 already a good simulation. I would love to see so much more planes in DCS, even only at first with Flaming-Cliffs level and not such accurate implementation, but it would be nice to sit in F-16, F-22 or F-35 at all.
Bedouin Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I would like too to see the F-16 getting a facelift, at least for the AI, as a module it can wait... Just an improved model of the existing...!
Feuerfalke Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 You are not alone. And I personally don't think that "this aircraft has been done so many times" is the whole truth why there is no DCS:F-16C. SkateZilla Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 There was a new model in the works a few (4 or 5) years back. Dunno what happened to it, or if it died like the C-17 Model did, or if it was put on hold. (Search around and you should see the renders) I can tell you from experience with other games, Lockheed is VERY Picky when it comes to Trademark Use. Just a Thought, Once DCS: F-18C is done, ED would have ground work done for Multi-Role fighters... sooooooo... ED Team NineLine Posted October 17, 2013 ED Team Posted October 17, 2013 Maybe the reason is that the F-16 has with Falcon 4.0 already a good simulation. I doubt that anyone that really wanted to do the F-16 would be worried about older Falcon sims. I think maybe Skates is more on to something, perhaps there is issues with licensing? But who knows... it does seem strange we dont see more people wanting to create a module of the F-16 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
SkateZilla Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) The coding should be less compared to the F-35 and F-18E Systems, I know there's actually only a few for FSX (i think maybe 2 Decent level ones), And they both have pros and cons, and 3d Model issues w/ accuracy. Aerosoft has a License to use the Lockheed/GeneralDynamics TradeMarks, and Aerosoft's Version is actually used by the USAF for training AFAIK. Cpt.Smiley did the AFM Test for the F-16C Demo that was posted Edit: Link Added: F-16 High Fidelity Flight Dynamics and Tech/Academic Initial Demonstration Once I'm caught Up w/ the F-100D Stuff, I may start working on the 3d Model we have for the F-16C, but I believe it was purchased online, and may not be 100% Accurate Either. Eventually a 3d Pit was be integrated to aid in flying, but systems coding is beyond my abilities.
