WildBillKelsoe Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 So, Capt. Benedito asks me to haul ass at 110 kts (which is the shaking of everything speed) to medevac the wounded soldier, so I get there sharp on 11:45, load him up, and FARP Madrid offers a relay to Tbilisi due northeast and winds blowing at my tail, so all good. I arrive to said destination and just as I am about to touchdown, and handoff the soldier, doc tells Benedito to slow down and he's gone? I supposedly climbed to 5400 ft to get the three wind vectors blowing up my ass to push me through, but the mission failed. What can I do? I've cruised at 90 kts on the way there btw, and I cant go faster than 90 because the main and pedestal panels shake violently in such a way that I can't even dial in 353 (let alone Benedito takes controls while I do so). AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
SUBS17 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 IMO Hueys are flown at 120kts IRL cruising at least the last time I was in one the pilots all flew that speed which is why I refer to them as flying eggbeaters lol. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Suchacz Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 You must fly like if you stole her and everything will be ok  I made it on time, 12:11pm and BlackHawk is leaving now with our injured soldier. Dont forget to trim her and you will be fine for the most part.
kontiuka Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It's kind of like the Elbrus Rescue single mission. You don't have time to mess around so you have to push the thing to its limits. I've basically buried the airspeed dial in that mission. A little unnerving wondering if the rotor is gonna hold.
WildBillKelsoe Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) I pushed it to 121 ktas and delivered him 1 min after the hawk landed. Be advised you HAVE to land next to the hawk on the same pad. Oh, and be prepared to hump it all the way back to Madrid after doing so... And for mental instability because of the ELT shakes...
