dureiken Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hi there, I would like to know how some of you achieved to use SLI on DCS ? I have 2 GTX780 on triple screen surround display (drivers R331.65, latest), but I tested : one card triple screen 2 card triple screen on both cards 2 card triple screen on one card only 2 card with https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/548123/sli/dcs-world-sli-profile/ and I always have exactly the same FPS. Is there a way to do better ? Thanks
joey45 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 The current DCS engine is not optimized for SLI/Xfire.. But the new Engine is. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. dureiken Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 I saw that it isn't optimised but I have exactly the same fps how some people have an increase ?
joey45 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 What's your CPU? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. dureiken Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) i7 3770k@4.6Ghz edit : what is really strange is that both GPU are used and burn. Maybe due to surround Edited November 9, 2013 by dureiken
BrunoDerRabe Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I guess the high resolution is the performance killer in your setting. Try to test this all with just 1920x1080 on a 120Hz Display :-) ..... Is your VSYNC disabled? I also use SLI for DCS and it is a huge difference in quality and FPS. I do use in that PC a 250GB SSD, 16GB RAMDisk (32GB RAM) - when the PC is started the DCS gamefolder is loaded from an image of the SSD into the RAMDISK. Tried also a triplemonitorsetup in the past but the performance was disapointing. The 2 GTX 660ti in SLI doing an amazing job but with just one Monitor only. I am not thinking about realizing a triplemonotorsetup until maybe some day with 3 GTX870. Best using only cards with 4GB RAM on board then. Just my opinion. I prefer NVIDIA 3D instead of triplemonitorsetup at the moment. It is a I7 2600 on a Z68 MOBO at my end. I run the game all maxed out with a decent framerate 40-50FPS. Hope this helps.
dureiken Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 I will try without surround when will EDGE be released ? 2014 ? 2015 ? :)
dureiken Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 I deactivated SLI and surround : 26fps With SLI and surround : 29fps really don't understand
BrunoDerRabe Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I deactivated SLI and surround : 26fps With SLI and surround : 29fps really don't understand So SLI is a plus - to understand it simply run surround without SLI :-) ... In DCS world it is also a big difference wich scene you use for your testing and in wich direction you are looking, for example towards an airport or oposite. Please check out the mission DCS World Freeflight http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/451464/ use the different F1-F12 to choose a decent unit view (AI units) for comparison. Even if you feel the average FPS isn´t brilliant in the game with SLI I can assure you the minimum FPS is much higher with SLI enabled than without (all settings maxed out).

How is that true if the software wasn't optimized for SLi? Are you contending the extra GPU Ram is the cause of the increase? How So? This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. TZeer Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=107551 Have a look in this thread, it might help you understand some of the settings that affect your performance.
dureiken Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 thanks a lot, really instructive but still have the same fps with/without SLI, but both cards are used in SLI, really strange !
TZeer Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Are you running mirrors on? Multiple displays?
TZeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Have you tried without surround and compared the difference? SLI vs Non SLI on single screen.
dureiken Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 27 fps with SLI and no surround (1 gpu is used) 27 fps without SLI and no surround 30fps with surround (and SLI btw) (2 gpu are used) SLI work ?? .... really strange
TZeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Seems your SLI is not working on the first one. Which is strange. What is the setting in your nvidia control panel? Does it say that SLI is enabled? Have you tried with any other games to see if the SLI is working in them with only a single screen running?
dureiken Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 yep SLI enabled in Nvidia and SLI works perfectly with surround or not on BF4 :) +80% perfs
TZeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Running in fullscreen or windowed? Any exports to MFD's? 3d?
dureiken Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 fullscreen surround, no 3D no MFD export, I will do one on touchscreen later
TZeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm out of ideas right now. You get the SLI working, but only when you do surround. Any single screen setup seem to put your second GPU inactive for some reason.
dureiken Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 yes. I'm lucky I have surround :p thanks btw. I hope 4 screen will work.
TZeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 One last thing you could try is unplugging your extra monitors while testing single screen setup.
dureiken Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 already done :) with 3 monitors on one card too.
