gizmo Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hi Everyone, I am planning to uninstall all my DCS modules as im formatting my PC and reinstalling Windows. My question is how do i deactivate my license for my Huey, A10c & Flamming Cliff 3 so that i can reactivate them once i reinstalled my DCS World. I don't want the no of counts to decrease in my license. Thank you If you want Peace, be prepared to fight for it ! :pilotfly:
sobek Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Please read this. Edit: You will need to navigate to the module you want to deactivate. e.g.: Go to Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\bin and click a10_protect.exe Then follow the steps outlined in the document above. Repeat this for all of your modules you want deactivated. Edited November 15, 2013 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
AlaskanGrizzly Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Here is how I just did it: In your DCS World installation folder, go to the 'Mods\aircrafts' folder. There you will find all of your installed modules. Open the 'bin' folder for each module and you will find the 'protect.exe' specific to each module. For example, for A-10 on my rig: "F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\bin\a10_protect.exe" 1) Open the 'protect.exe' for each module and select the 'Activate or Deactivate product' option and hit 'Next'. 2) When the activation screen appears, click on the blue 'deactivate' link in the last sentence (Not the 'Next' button). 3) On the next screen click the 'Deactivate' button. Repeat those steps for each of your modules and you will be all set.

AtaliaA1 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Is this even needed? I don't recall re-activating when I formatted and re-installed the OS. No hardware changes were done. Which is why activation and re-activation is required......Right? If protect exe sees the same system it will not know if the OS was re-installed or not. It will just look for the keys features that tell it this is the owner on the owners PC. from the original log and activation? This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. sobek Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 New OS install mandates a new activation. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Lizzard Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 o.k. how about just a clean re-install of DCS?! I am not going to format my PC..just want to completly re-install DCS and all my Modules..to have a clean Rig (I want to get into JSGME now).. deactivation needed or not?! Thanks! My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
HiJack Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 If you are installing to get a fresh start there is no need to unregister. Just rename the old folders or delete them if you wish. 1

Thank you Sir! So what I do: I rename my current "DCS World" Folder I download DCS 1.2.7 + all my Modules ver. 1.2.7 I install everything I register the Modules with the protect.exe in the bin Folders I do not loose any of my 10 Registrations for each Module Sorry for being such a Noob:music_whistling: Edited March 12, 2014 by Lizzard My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
HiJack Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 In 1.2.7 you just install the DCS World and use the Module Manager to add the other modules and they will install themselves. You can also rename the "DCS" folder in "Saved Games" but that will clear your pilot log and keyboard settings. With DCS World (or any flight sim I think) it is important to know all the folders and where things get saved.
Lizzard Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I am not going to touch the DCS World Folder in the saved Games....I know what this Folder does..so far so good...but you keep confusing me with the Module Manger... As far as I understand the Module Manager does quite the same as the protect.exe..(register/unregister) but with a really clean install of DCS World..how does the Game know what Modules I have?!?! About my Account?! But anyway..so I rename / delete the "old" DCS World Folder (Game Folder not saved Games) I download the latest DCS World and install it. Then I start DCS an go to the Module Manager There my purchased Modules appear somehow, and I can install and register them. right?! My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Lizzard Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Is my Question really that stupid:hmm: My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
cichlidfan Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 When you go to the module manager, you are logging into to the DCS site, where your registered product info is stored.
