piXel496 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Updated 05-05-2016 I like the gauges from this p-51d so I made it for DCS. It changes the instrument panel of the P-51D. Calm, clean and with a blink of an eye registration by color indication. 05-05-2016 changes: - cleaned windshield while keeping dirt effect - corrected some bugs in the alphachannel of p51d-cpt07.dds - reflections on canopy reduced Modifications - added the critical color ranges in the gauges - added a slight bevel of the gauge indication on colored backgrounds - minimal color change of the gauge indication, from 100% white to few procent added yellow (to make it less blue) - made text within gauges fluorescent. I imagined radium paint was used for this. - cleaned text and indication of image: p51d-cpt08.tga.dds - fixed some leaks of the alpha channels so fluorescent locations match the paint. - changed the background - made bezels of the gauges darker and less reflective - desaturated the yellow line - undamaged centre instruments - less dirt in the corners of the canopy glass How to install 1. copy folder "vivid colors" from the .zip into directory: Drive:\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Liveries\Cockpit_P-51D\ 2. In main menu DCS -> options -> special -> P-51D, select a Customized Cockpit howto.txt in the .zip file download Cheers, . Edited May 4, 2016 by piXel496 updated 2 old stuff I made
kobac Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 It really looks nice, but it seems to me that the yellow line too saturated. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
piXel496 Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Thx :), the yellow line is default (prob. screenshot oversaturation). I only changed the gauges not the dash. To be exact I changed image p51d-cpt07.tga and p51d-cpt08.tga.dds. Changes: - added the critical color ranges in the gauges - added a slight bevel of the gauge indication on colored backgrounds - minimal color change of the gauge indication, from 100% white to few procent added yellow (to make it less blue) - made text within gauges fluorescent. I imagined radium paint was used for this, but please correct me. I like to keep it accurate - cleaned text and indication of image: p51d-cpt08.tga.dds - fixed some leaks of the alpha channels so fluorescent locations match the paint. . piXel496 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Added some extra changes to make the instrument panel more composed - changed the background - made bezels of the gauges darker and less reflective - desaturated the yellow line - undammaged centre instruments . old stuff I made
Fifi Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Downloaded, tested, and adopted! :) Nice work  PS: would it be possible to add a little more glass reflection to the gauges? ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

piXel496 Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 thx for bringing it up. I fixed it and updated the download. I forgot about the glassdirt and extension should be .dds. By the way it lowers the dirt in the corners of the canopy glass (more transparent). . old stuff I made

mr.z_albinyahoo.com Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 This is not JSGME friendly. I put this in my mods (not mods as in modules) folder and create my folder in there called "Mustang Colored Gauges Mod" and I extract the 4 items (not the howto) into there and I go to JSGME and active it, turn on DCS, aaaaand it doesn't work. Either your mod is broken, or the DCS version is different between me and what this mod is meant for, or the howto isn't very "How to" at all. I would like some help with this. I have DCS World 1.5. Suggestion, always check the date of posts here and never assume the target DCS version unless so stated in the post/mod. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
Aviators Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 this mod work with new DCS version? 1.5.3 and 2.0? L'importante non è stabilire se uno ha paura o meno, è saper convivere con la propria paura e non farsi condizionare dalla stessa. Ecco, il coraggio è questo, altrimenti non è più coraggio ma incoscienza.
LcSummers Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) this mod work with new DCS version? 1.5.3 and 2.0? Not really. If you use uv ligfhts, its not working correctly. ED has altered it a little. Oil and fuel pressure (little gauges) have moved a little bit. If you dont use UV lights, its ok but with them on, no! The entire gauge is illuminated. Salute! Hopefully sb canmake this working again. Edited May 1, 2016 by LcSummers

piXel496 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) I will update the cockpit-files this weekend with a working version for 2.0 and 1.5. Then you can select it from options/special/customized cockpit. And there will be no need to reinstall after a DCS update. Thanks, . Edited May 4, 2016 by piXel496 old stuff I made
