Gloom Demon Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 In the Mission editor a white name of an airfield denotes a neutral one, a blue is for the blue coalition and a red for the red coalition. However, when flying missions online (i haven't checked offline), all the airfield names on the map (F10) are white (at least on the WAR server). Already on two occasions i have landed on the Sochi-Adler airfield to find out that I cannot refuel and rearm, probably because the airfield was taken by the blue coalition. I had to leave the plane there, because I didn't have enough fuel to reach another airfield - suprisingly - that didn't count as a loss of an aircraft for my side. So how can I tell which airfield belongs to which coalition? MTFDarkEagle Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 If they start shooting at you... they are probably hostile... :D No, just kidding. Like you said, if the the F10 map denotes it's white, you cannot refuel rearm there, you have to find a friendly airfield (i.e. red or blue, whichever you are). Gloom Demon Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) If Sochi-Adler belonged to the red coalition at the beginning of the battle (i am sure of that, because I refueled there)- how could it have become neutral? I would presume, that if it was overtaken it would become blue, not white... MTFDarkEagle Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 For the airbase to become a friendly airbase (i.e. red --> blue) you need to have friendly ground units on the airbase. You can try it in the ME. Setup a hostile airbase with 2 easy to kill units, and let a couple of friendly units kill them and then move onto the field. ENO Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 On occasion you'll run into situations where enemy forces are within 2 kilometers (I think it's kilometers) from your airbase and they (ATC / Ground Crew) will not respond. This is to simulate them clearing datum I guess... if you kill those incoming forces the ground crew / ATC will respond to you again. Blerry cowards.. how dare they run before the aircraft.... the aircraft are supposed to retreat before ground crew... What ever happened to 'stand to the last man' (aircraft are ok to leave !), 'at all costs' :-)
idenwen Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 But is there any hint in the 3D world witch side a AB belongs to? Flag or something like that? Or do I fist have to land and check if they refuel or not. Would be a nice mod! A Flagpost near tower with the country or coalition flag or color :)

Gloom Demon Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) I think something is wrong here. Look at the attached pictures - it is me joining a game on the WAR server for the red coalition as a Su-25A pilot (we all know there's no such plane, right? ;-) ) starting from Sochi-Adler - The name of the airfield is white. The other airfield which belongs to my coalition is Maykop-Khanskaya (it might be spelled differently in English), however it is still, again, written in white. In this particular mission Gudauta and Sukhumi-Babushara belong to the blue coalition, however the names of these airfields are also written in white. Is this a bug, something wrong with this particular mission or something else?Flaming Caucasus Stage 0 The State Border.miz Edited November 29, 2013 by Gloom Demon AMD Ryzen 3600, Biostar Racing B850GT3, AMD Rx 580 8Gb, 16384 DDR4 2900, Hitachi 7K3000 2Tb, Samsung SM961 256Gb SSD, Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X, Samsung S24F350 24'
Gloom Demon Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Here is a photo of me starting up in the UH-1H for the blue side in the same mission - the airport's name (Gudauta) is white (neutral). Grimes Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Click on the airbase icon on the map view. It will bring up a little info box in the bottom left corner of the screen. One of the bits of information is the coalition that owns the airbase. Alternatively if F11 view is enabled you can view the airbase and it will have a colored flag in the bottom info bar showing which coalition it belongs to.
