Cowboy10uk Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Hi guys, I've been playing round with this and can't find a way to add door gunners when flying the slick. At moment it seems you can only have weapons when you tick the weapon pod option which also adds the pylons. As we all know, door gunners are used on both the gunship and slick versions, yet pylons should only be on the gunships. As I believe 1.2.7 is going to be the release version, is it possible to get this fixed? While I love the fact we now have the option of a slick version, I would still like my door gunners on it. If this can be done and I've just missed the option, could someone please point me to correct location. Grim_Smiles Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) I can't get door gunners on the slick either, so likely it isn't an option. Hopefully at some point in the future we'll get the option of selecting M60 gunners for that older Vietnam feel on the Huey. monkie Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Since I don't have the Beta installed can someone tell me whether or not it's possible to fly the Slick version (no weapon mounts at all) with both the IR Exhaust cover AND the anti-wire trap kit or is that not an option in the configuration? Serp Supreme Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Yes, I can confirm that in 1.2.7 you can choose if you want door gunners just like you choose weapons in the payload screen, and if they use the M-60 or the M-134s. Cowboy10uk Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Really, Tigersden, that's great, could you please explain how, as every time I turn off weapons pylons the option for door gunners appears unselectable. I only seem go be able to add the door gunners if I have weapons pylons on the aircraft, which of course dosnt make it a slick. ebabil Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 you can remove pylons by unchecking the "hardpoint racks" tick, editor/payload tab. and you can also remove ugly exhaust ir supressor by unchecking "exhaust ir supressor" on latest tab. Paganus Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 We need a M23 mount for a slick with door gunners only.

Scrim Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 So to sum it up, there is no way of having door guns on a Huey without having the hardpoints attached. Deselecting the hardpoints option in the mission editor doesn't let you use anything else than the Empty option.
DeJohn Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 The reason you can't have door guns on a slick is because there is no way to hang a bungee cord to support the gun. During Nam the only ways to have a gun was the gunner had to hold it, hang it in the doorway with a strap or bungee or mount it on a hardpoint. I don't blame ED for taking the easy way. Its a GREAT simulator but its still just a game. If you're looking for total realism join the military. Bless Your Heart! :)
Scrim Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Completely incorrect. The bungee cord approach was a field fix, because the standard issue MG mounts didn't allow as wide a field of fire. Factory made MG mounts were available for the Huey from the day they first started using door gunners.

I think you misunderstood what he was mentioning. He's talking about putting door gunners on the slick (unarmed) model which it appears there is no way to do currently, not switching which guns for door gunner on the gunship version.
